In the article entitled ‘’We have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe, warns UN’’ by Watts (2018<del>, October 8</del>), <del>published on The Guardian</del>, the author tackles the climate change problem and its negative effects, sharing a significantly reliable report on the critical situation of our world’s temperature levels (rather than this detail you can express it as Watts claims that UN's report will push relevant parties to take this problem seriously). As we can understand from the self-explanatory title of the article, the author starts by <del>with</del> highlighting the warning from UN IPCC of the emergency of taking action against the rising temperatures.

He addresses to some of the extreme weather conditions being experienced all around the globe, stating that even the current warming level of 1 degree celcius causes so many problems and indicates that any further increase would be catastrophic.

He follows up by citing the above-mentioned report on what would happen if <del>should</del> our hopes to set the warming at maximum of 1.5 degrees fail. According to given examples of consequences (it is better to leave this out as it hinders with meaning), the author warns that water levels would rise higher than today, stressing %50 more people around the world. Insects and plantation would lose half of their habitats and %99 of coral reefs would be destroyed. Moreover, Watts carries on with the rising acidity and decreasing oxygen concentration of seas and oceans, caused by overvaporization, aquatic life would fall into serious danger. Next, Watts mentions the course of action that IPCC strongly suggests to adopt before it is too late, which includes policies such as reforestation and implementing electric transportation system. In conclusion, he shares his opinion on how the commitment levels of people fall short of sufficing to make a difference and states that he hopes the IPCC report will raise awareness on the matter, which should highly concern all humans.

Thank you, good job:)

MET

In “We have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe, warns UN” Watts (2018) discusses the future of the climate change by pointing out how a small amount of increase in temperature of the world can generate disastrous effects if people do not limit this calamity. Throughout the text the author provides information from one of the landmark reports of the UN entitled “Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)” to persuade people that world is in danger. The author believes in that people are unaware of the awaiting disaster which is ahead of them and he underlines the importance of taking an action. He supports his opinion by quoting, co-chair of the working group,Debra Roberts who believes these disasters are severe warning for us to take an immediate action. Following this, the author warns that that the world is 1 degrees celcius warmer than pre-industrial levels which is the major reason why the natural disasters occur around the world such as in US, South Africa and the Arctic. He stresses that additional increase of temperature would worsen the current consequences. Therefore, he believes that the warming of the world should be restricted to 1.5 degrees celcius. The author suggests following the IPCC’s possible solution pathways such as reforestation, different combination of land use and changing the technology to maintain the desired temperature.Considering the current level of commitments, the author criticizes the people and claims that the world is heading towards to outrageous 3 degrees celcius of warming. To sum up, Watts underlines the importance of the report as it highlights the dangerous temperature increase. For that reason, he is hopeful that the report will persuade people to consider climate change more profoundly.

Thank you for the task.
Watts(2018), in his article, "We have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe, warns UN" discusses the vital risks of World's leading problem, which is climate change. Watt depicts that even half a degree will trigger the impacts of the consequences like global warming. He tried to attract the reader to the importance of keeping temperatures between 1.50 C and 20C. So, due to the records that Watts shared in his article, the people should understand the importance of largest alarm bell from the science community and take the actions against the threat. Therefore, the record droughts in Cape Town and forest fires in the arctic shows that the danger is started to show up. Moreover, according to current commitments, the earth will warm up to 3 degrees. The world is under dangerous disaster and people have to be aware of it.

Because of 1 °C change there has been natural disasters such as wild fires, flood and articl ice melting around the world and if this increase continues, poverty will rise up and the balance of the nature will be disturbed.

"In the article entitled “We have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe, warns UN” Watts (2018) discusses the implications of climate change and global warming. The author explains how even small changes in the temperature can be vital for the future of our planet. We only have 12 years left to ensure that the earth does not warm up beyond the threshold of 1,5°C. After that, the author warns that it will simply be too late. If the earth warms up by only 0.5°C more, it will be a catastrophe for our species, with dire consequences such as floods, hurricanes, droughts, and poverty. The author seems pessimistic about the future because we are already experiencing the devastating effects of global warming, including the destruction of insects, crops, and coral reefs, among others. However, he states that there is still a window of opportunity for us to minimize the effects of climate change if we aim for the less than half grade increase (make sure you state what are the possible pathways?). Referring to the Paris agreement on meeting that goal, the author believes that the report by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will inform everyone about the importance of climate change and what we can still do to avoid water shortages for millions of people around the world in the long run.

In "We have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe, warns UN" Watts (2018) the author points out to climate change and its e<del>a</del>ffects (affect v. / effect n.) on people and animals.

In the article ‘’Clean Energy Won’t Save Us’’ by Hickel (2016<del>, July</del>), the author contradicts with the general opinion on an ideal solution for global warming and he shares his idea on how to refrain from worsening the climate change. He starts by stating that today humans have become more and more aware of the existence of the climate change, as undeniably visible examples appeared in many parts of Earth. He then expresses the urgency to stop using fossil fuels, which are one of the main causes of global warming, and replace them with clean, renewable energy. But he adds that even though clean energy is a must, it won’t necessarily be our salvation. Because although we would then avoid any more CO2 emission from human activities, production of other greenhouse gases like methane and nitrous dioxide would still continue. He explains that along with carbon dioxide, these gases also cause warming considerably and they are enough to put the final nail in the coffin. He suggests that in order for us to survive, we first need to alter our economic system, which endorses continuous production and growth. He follows up by <del>with</del> addressing (with + noun / by + Ving) the negative effects the current economic system already has on people in both social and environmental aspects because it follows the logic of ever-increasing consumption and therefore obligates us to adopt rapidness in our lives, the author associates it with unhappiness and overwork. Finally he urges us readers to imagine a economic system which focuses on our well-being and on the other hand cares for the environment. He mentions the likelihood of such system and states that few countries already set an example of it.

Thank you for the task, good summary:)

In the article "We have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe, warns UN", Watts (2018) focus<del>s</del>es on climate change and its<del>'</del> effects. The author mentions that even 0.5 C temperature change can cause disasters. After that, he discusses a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC) which gives us information about the consequences of 1.5 C difference on the earth. The report highlights that climate change is occurring earlier than expected and It is and will be causing lots of problems like droughts, forest fires, hunger, sea-level rise. But IPCC suggests some pathways to prevent these disasters (what are these pathways? Be specific here!).

In the article "We have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe, warns UN", Watts (2018) discusses the negative results of even slight temperature changes that is caused by global warming. Firstly, the author mentions the landmark report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which advises to make urgent changes in order to keep temperatures between 1.5 C and 2 C (make sure you express ideas in your own words and why does the report suggest urgent changes?). Secondly, the author quotes a co-chair, Debra Roberts, as she encourages people to take action now, since the clock is ticking (focus on the actual idea why should we take urgent actions?). After that, Watts mentions some disasters such as hurricanes, droughts and forest fires and states that it is clear to see from these disasters that climate change is already happening and it would be even worse with higher temperatures. Later on, the author points out that at 1.5 C, the ratio of the population exposed to water stress could be 50% lower compared to 2 C (state the ideas in your own words -even a slight change in temperature will cause serious water scarcity). He also adds that nature would encounter the most difference as at 2 C, plants are twice as likely to lose half of their habitat, and 99% of the corals would be gone. The author later suggests some <del>pathaway </del>solutions to achieve 1.5 C by The IPCC which includes reforestation and shifting to electric transport system. To conclude, he is worried about how fast climate change and it<del>'</del>s results are <del>coming </del>and hopes that his article (is it his article or IPCC's latest report) will make the readers take climate change more seriously.

Thank you for the task.
