The epicenter was near New Madrid, Missouri. It was destroyed. In St. Louis, Missouri many houses were severely damaged, and chimneys were toppled. It was definitely one that was affected by the Reelfoot fault. Uplift along the segment of the reverse fault, created the Reelfoot Lake from the waves of the water spreading from the earthquake.
