1. The owners of the factory locked the doors to prevent stealing.

2. There was cotton and paper in 8th floor which made the fire bigger.

3. The workers were all women, many women who worked at the triangle shirtwaist factory were immigrants. They had moved to the United States from from another country.

4. The workers tried to escape through the fire escape but it broke because there were too many people trying to escape.
 
5. The firefighter’s ladder wasn’t tall enough it could only reach to the 6th floor.

6. The fire lasted less than 20 minutes, but 146 people died.

7. New York passed more than 30 labor laws. Some of these laws helped make a factory fire code. The laws also helped how bosses could treat workers.

8. The laws helped people all across the country.

9. The laws also helped with stopping factory’s from hiring children.

10. People gave speeches to remember the workers.

11. More than 100,000 people marched in memory of the workers. 

12. Some of the workers were only 14 years old.

13. Some were also of Jewish or Italian heritage.
