hi, today topic about Zakah and Hajj.

Importance of Zakah

Zakah means “charity” or “almsgiving” in Islam.

It is more than just an act of kindness.

Zakah is one of the pillars of Islam.

It is mentioned in both the Quran and Hadith.

It shows the importance of compassion and helping others.

Zakah promotes social responsibility and supports those in need.

1) Tazkiyah (Purification of the Soul)

Tazkiyah means purifying the soul (nafs) from harmful traits.

It builds good character, sincerity, and taqwa (God-consciousness).

Removes greed from the heart.

Purifies one’s wealth.

Encourages compassion towards others.

Helps control and discipline the nafs.

2) Tawakkul (Trust in Allah)

Tawakkul means to entrust or rely.

It is complete trust in Allah for all matters.

Belief that Allah is capable, all-knowing, and sufficient.

We should rely on Him alone, not just on our efforts.

True Tawakkul combines trust in Allah with taking action.

3) Ukhuwah (Brotherhood)

Zakah removes class barriers and reduces social inequality.

Builds mutual support — the wealthy help those in need.

Prevents envy and resentment among the poor.

Strengthens emotional bonds through acts of kindness and care.

Zakah is more than financial, it reflects genuine concern for others.

What is Hajj?

Hajj is the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

It is one of the Five Pillars of Islam.

Every adult Muslim must perform Hajj at least once in their lifetime (if able).

It is a major act of worship and spiritual journey in Islam.

Relation Between Al-Tadhiyyah (Sacrifice) and Hajj:

Hajj and Umrah involve various forms of sacrifice (al-Tadhiyyah).

Pilgrims leave behind comfort, wealth, and routine for Allah’s sake.

Animal sacrifice (Qurbani) during Hajj reflects Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion.

Symbolizes giving up what is beloved for Allah.

Teaches humility, obedience, and full submission to Allah’s will.

How to Gain Taqwa on Hajj

Taqwa (God-consciousness) is rooted in the heart, not just in actions.

Honouring the symbols of Allah during Hajj reflects true taqwa (Qur’an 22:32).

Focus on sincerity, humility, and inner reflection during the pilgrimage.

Use Hajj as a time to purify the heart and strengthen your connection with Allah.

Cultivating taqwa is one of the most important spiritual goals of Hajj.

Sabr (Patience)

Sabr means patience, self-control, and emotional strength.

Involves holding back negative reactions and staying calm.

Includes persevering through hardship or doing difficult things for Allah.

It is essential in staying firm on the path to Allah.

Sabr is a key quality for spiritual growth and success.

1) Sabr in Obeying Allah

Sabr is required in every act of obedience to Allah.

Practised during Hajj rituals like:

	•	Tawaf (circling the Kaaba)

	•	Sa’i (walking between Safa and Marwah)

	•	Standing at ‘Arafah

	•	Staying at Muzdalifah

	•	Throwing pebbles at the Jamarat

Involves staying consistent in dhikr (remembrance) and du’a (supplication).

Shows dedication and discipline in worship.

2) Sabr in Staying Away from Sins

Hajj teaches self-restraint by avoiding even permissible actions (e.g. perfume, intimacy, cutting hair/nails).

Practicing patience with these small restrictions builds discipline.

Strengthens your ability to avoid actual sins in daily life.

Develops self-control and awareness of Allah.

Sabr helps you stay committed to a righteous lifestyle even after Hajj.

3) Sabr in Facing Trials Decreed by Allah

Hajj comes with many challenges: crowds, discomfort, and unexpected situations.

These trials test your patience and trust in Allah’s plan.

It’s an opportunity to train your heart in endurance and calmness.

Teaches how to remain patient with people and situations beyond your control.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever tries to be patient, Allah will grant him patience” (Muslim).

Hajj strengthens your ability to handle life’s tests with sabr.

Practicing Sabr & Taqwa in Hajj by:

1) Controlling the Tongue

Hajj can be stressful, testing your patience with people and situations.

You may feel tempted to argue, complain, or use harsh words.

However, Allah clearly forbids foul speech, arguing, and bad language during Hajj.

Controlling your tongue is part of maintaining the spiritual purity of the journey.

It reflects inner discipline and taqwa.

2) Controlling Anger

Good character can be summed up as “avoiding anger” (Ibn al-Mubarak).

Hajj is a test of patience which tiredness, crowds, and disorganization can trigger anger.

Learn to stay calm and composed, even when provoked.

If angry:

	•	Seek Allah’s protection from Shayṭān

	•	Perform wudu’

	•	Walk away from the situation

	•	Control your tongue

Hajj is the perfect time to develop forbearance which overlook others’ faults and avoid reacting.

3) Controlling the Eyes

Looking at haram gives Shayṭān access to your heart.

In today’s world, shamelessness and haram images are widespread and easily accessible.

The eyes are the gateway to the heart, what you see affects your desires, thoughts, and emotions.

Seeing something haram can trap your heart, making it hard to stop thinking about it.

Lowering the gaze frees the heart from the grip of desires.

Allah commands: “Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their chastity…” (Qur’an 24:30).

Guarding your gaze is a powerful way to purify the soul and protect your modesty.
