         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Sistine Chapel</strong><br><br>The Sistine Chapel is a chapel in the Vatican City. Originally known as the Cappella Magna the chapel takes its name from Pope Sixtus IV, who restored it between 1477 and 1480. Today the Chapel is used for the conclave, the process in which a new pope is selected. The Sistine Chapel is famous for the frescos that decorates the interior and also the Sistine Chapel ceiling and The Last Judgment by Michelangelo.<br><br><strong>The significance of the Sistine chapel<br><br></strong>Built in the 1470s the Sistine Chapel serves a crucial part in Rome's religious function. Beginning in 1492 building has hosted many papal conclaves, during which cardinals gather to vote on a new pope. A special chimney in the roof of the chapel tells people the conclave’s results, with white smoke indicating that a new Pope has been elected and black smoke signalling that no candidate has yet received been chosen.<br><br><strong>The Last Judgment</strong><br><br>In the Christian religion, the Last Judgement is the last day of the world when God will judge everyone who has died and decide whether they will go to Heaven or Hell. <br><br><br><figure class="attachment attachment--preview" data-trix-attachment='{"contentType":"image","height":881,"url":"https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/18/Last_Judgement_%28Michelangelo%29.jpg/800px-Last_Judgement_%28Michelangelo%29.jpg","width":800}' data-trix-content-type="image"><img width="800" height="881" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/18/Last_Judgement_%28Michelangelo%29.jpg/800px-Last_Judgement_%28Michelangelo%29.jpg"><figcaption class="attachment__caption"></figcaption></figure><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>St Peters Basilica&nbsp;</em></div><div><br></div><div>Construction of the present basilica, which would soon replace the Old St. Peter's Basilica from the 4th century AD, began on 18 April 1506 and was completed on 18 November 1626.</div><div><br></div><div>On April 18, 1506,Julius II laid the first stone that which would soon be created for the new basilica. It was to be modeled in the form of a Greek cross according to the plan of Donato Bramante<br><br></div><div>The importance of St peters occurs as it is the site of St Peter's tomb. Peter is considered the foremost of the twelve apostles. It is also the largest Christian church in the world with a total capacity 60,000. It is located within the Vatican City-State, the smallest sovereign nation in the world and the home of the pope, the bishop of Rome, leader of the largest religious organization on the planet: the Catholic Church.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>St Peter's Basilica was built at an estimated cost of at least $7 billion (making it one of the most expensive churches ever built) over 120 year period which completely replaced the 1300-year old basilica that stood in its place previously.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
