Projektbeschreibung TRUST

Email von Nahomi:

Dear Trust Collective Team,

We are writing to express our deep interest in joining the Trust Collective and to share our availability. We’ve also included an inquiry about scholarship opportunities, as we are multiple-discriminated individuals and rely on financial support to make participation possible.

Why the Trust Collective:
We are applying to the Trust Collective because its vision aligns deeply with the core of our project, Research as Ritual - Decolonial Entanglement. Trust’s commitment to fostering mutual care, transdisciplinary dialogue, and experimentation offers an ideal environment for our work, which explores the embodied entanglements of coloniality, ancestry, and environmental justice.

Through collective ritual, movement, and reflection, our project aims to explore how the patterns of harm caused by colonial histories continue to shape both our bodies and the landscapes we inhabit. We are inspired by Trust’s emphasis on creating spaces for self-reflection, openness, and listening—approaches we seek to embody as we engage in this inquiry.

What excites us most is Trust’s focus on multiplicity, which aligns with our exploration of the complexities and ambiguities of multi-heritage identities. In working with the land’s ecological and historical context, as well as its non-human inhabitants, we see a deep parallel with your commitment to reimagining human and environmental relationships. We would be thrilled to join your collective, which supports the intersections of art, ecology, and social justice.

Winter Availability & Alignment with Winter Break:
We would love to engage with the Trust Collective between 27.01 and 20.02. We understand that this coincides with your winter break, and we want to emphasize how this timing aligns with our approach. We deeply respect the importance of rest and the restorative energy of winter, and we are open to engaging with Trust during this quieter time. If the timing we suggested

We are accustomed to the cold winter months in Germany where we live right now and would be happy to integrate into the space at a slower, more reflective pace, minimizing demands on hosting responsibilities. We envision this time as an opportunity for introspective, embodied inquiry, and mutual care without placing extra pressure on the collective. Our presence would be gentle, allowing us to contribute while respecting the collective's need for rest and reflection.

Scholarship Inquiry:
As Individuals as BIPoC, queer and trans Identities, we share experience of intersectional oppression, we are dependent on financial support to make this engagement possible. Could you kindly provide information on any scholarship and when to apply or about other financial assistance opportunities available for participants? We would greatly appreciate your guidance and support in this matter.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope to align our vision with Trust’s collective energy during the winter period.

In riots, rituals, and resilience,
Katharina, Raquel, and Nahomi/Setota

*******

Mail von Trust:

Dear all,

first of all thank you so much for your interest in cooperating with Trust. We feel flattered to know you want to spend time with us and are actually very curious to know how the word about us came to you.

Your work touches us deeply as we truly recognise how meaningful and multilayered it is and we are happy to have you with us for at least some of the mentioned period, despite the fact that we are closed.
In order to align expectations, we need to clarify that we are not a "Kollektiv", as you probably know it from Germany, but an association which works in different quadrants of art without permanent artist residents in our space. And as we are closed and are therefore not accepting artistic residences until the end of February, we will only have the onwers and carers of the place around, me included. Even though I will not be at the Trust premisses for the whole period you want to come, there will always be someone around.

As we understand, you are moving without much financial support. At this stage, it is important for us to mention that we are a non-profit association and our main source of revenues is the residences and other project-related funds. If you have looked into our website, you know that we ask for a specific contribution per person per week. Taking your situation into account and also our connection to your work, we have decided to offer you the possibility to contribute with 5€ per person per day of your staying. This contribution includes the accommodation in shared rooms as well as the usage of the common spaces and one studio and is mainly destined to cover costs. You might be used to Winter in Germany, but here it works differently. It's actually colder inside than outside and the heating systems work a lot during the Winter period over here. :)

We are also interested in knowing more about your specific project and can actually think that there might be a possibility to organise a session with you with the intention to show your work to the local community. Maybe even ask for donations which would then be destined to support your staying with us. Definitely something to think about together.

Let us know your thoughts on this.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Projectdescription TRUST form von Ka:

Research as Ritual - Decolonial Entanglement

Project description

With our project we seek to explore our own multiracial heritages and our entanglements with land/s, coloniality and liberational potential.

Our aim is to do so through embodiment practice, movement, ritual, as well as witnessing and listening to each other, the land and other more than human kin and our ancestors.

Our project aims to explore how the patterns of harm caused by colonial histories continue to shape both our bodies and the landscapes we inhabit. Equally, we are engaged in deeping our understanding how we hold capacities for liberation and justice.

We are deeply touched by the hurt and harm being acted out in the world, and wish to contribute with our research to re-imagining human and environmental relationships, as well as bringing ancestral and indigenous wisdom forward.

With this project we specificly focus on the colonial entanglement in the Selva Maya, a primeval forest in Mexico, which is currently under threat to be (even more) destroyed in large parts by a train project with involvment of the bigest german railway company.

So far we have met several times this winter to start researching as a group which has been truely impactful for us. We are in an early stage of working together in this way, and wish to build a stable and sustainable base.
We want to use the time at TRUST to experiment more with the above mentioned, and gain clarity which fruits can be harvested from our work, which can transcend our container and build bridges for other people too.

We envision this time as an opportunity for reflective, embodied inquiry, mutual care, and intuitive exploration with the land
