Being a Director and Producer are similar in ways but also very different in other ways. Both roles include working in all aspects of production from planning, pre production, production and post production. They both also have a large impact on the team and production overall as they are the two main people in charge of the production. The skills they both entail are very similar however a Director needs more verbal skills where as the Producer needs more writing skills but both need a creative vision, making good decisions, paying attention to detail and be a strong and confident leader. In ways they are also very different as the Directors main focus is to direct the film and most active in production however the Producer is in all sections but their main focus is in pre production.

If I wanted to become a Director I would need a variety of different skills from verbal communication to practical experience and creativity. I think I'm quite a bubbly and approachable person. I feel as though i'm a good listener as well as communicator whether that is face to face communication to emailing. Being a Director you also need some practical experience, I feel as though I have some experience directing actors and other crew however I feel this would need to be improved to a high standard. I am a creative individual as I love coming up with my own ideas or extending an idea as a team member. I am good at paying attention to detail as i'm a perfectionist and I am also determined to succeed but also motivate myself and others because I have a deep passion for film making. I think I have good artistic vision and creative skills because I am always creating something. My highest skill is probably commitment, I always put 100% into everything I do and i'm always committed to getting the job done.

I want to become a Producer. I hope to achieve this as I have the majority of skills to become a Producer. A producer needs good written communication and I feel as though I'm really reliable at replying to messages in the correct format. I feel as though I would enjoy being a producer as they take part in all production. I have the skills to work under pressure and motivate the production team because I'm a positive individual who always wants to make people happy. I'm also good at solving problems and not getting stressed about issues.

Being a Director there is some skills that I need to improve. I think one of the skills needed that I need to improve is working for intensively for long hours because I love sleep and enjoy spending time with family and friends however in some cases being a Director means not having a social life for days at a time. I also can become tired easily so I would need to go to sleep earlier or take regular breaks. I also think that self belief is a very important skill to have as a Director however sometimes I think my work isn't good enough and get myself down about it so I need to stop thinking so negative about my work. I feel as though sometimes I can be awkward around people I don't know so I feel like I need to become more confident with myself and talking to other people.

Being a Producer there is some skills that I need to improve. I think one of the skills that I would need to improve is my maths skills because finance is a important part of being a producer. Maths will be in a lot of work that is done whilst being a producer, from sorting out the budget to finance of each part of the production. I feel as though I need to improve my knowledge on the regulations and codes of practise, I feel as though to become a Producer I need a little more experience and get to know how different companies work.
