Blinding the Cyclops Polyphemus to escape from the cave,"rammed it deep in his crater eye, and leaned on it"(Homer lines 332-333). Which resulted in him shadowing a curse on him from one of the most powerful gods. When he had to navigate into a whole new world, the Land of the Dead to "consult the blind prophet Tiresias"(Homer pge 576). And he got told his destiny form there on out.  The sirens,"who lure sailors to their destruction"(Homer pg 580)  his men passed this test by having self strength and Odysseus showed bravery as he was the only one who listened to the mesmerizing tone "I alone should listen to their song" he says.(Homer lines 693-694). The sea monster, Scylla and great whirlpool Charybdis was the next challenge for them. They passed successful with the dreadfulness of "six of my best men" were eaten by Scylla. Next his men ate all of Lord Helios' cattle making him livid and letting Zeus punish them,"Zeus let fly a bolt against the ship, a direct hit"(Homer lines 948-949). Lastly, Odysseus returns home,"has finished telling his story to the Phaeacians"(Homer pg 595). And thanks to Athena he is disguised as a beggar so that he could take out the Suitors with his son Telemachus. But, his rage gets the best of him after kills Antinous and he reveals himself,"You dare bid for my wife while I was still alive. Contempt was all you had for the gods who rule wide heaven, contempt for what men say of you hereafter. Your last hour has come. You die in blood"(Homer lines 1441-1444). Odysseus repeatedly was faced with monsters and problems that he resolved continuously. Along the way he did lose some men but he still didn't give up or let that tear him down.
