He had a dream about Fiona and strongly described the feeling of "wanting" throughout the dream. Jonas's assignment was skipped by the Chief Elder. Everyone knew it was not an accident, so they and Jonas especially began wondering why he had been skipped and what he had done wrong– because he must have done something to be skipped.
This makes us think of anything that might have seemed strange about Jonas compared to the rest of the community, like the memory with the apple when he had noticed something different about it that he didn't understand, and how these things may affect him now.
