We see this in our book on page 119 when Garry Tison said, "You worthless N***** Son's of B******". This is a racist slur from a white guy that was an ex-cop. 
Or in the whole chapter one Jus is trying to help jus get in his car because she is drunk. She was resisting his help. To a cop this made him think he was trying to kidnap her. He wasn't, and when the cop saw him he put him and cuffs.
