Otto Von Bismarck used the constitutional crisis in Denmark as an advantage and declared war, since he wanted Schleswig-Holstein. Austria helped them in the war, and they both occupied the region. He used this to start a war with Austria, and since Prussian had the help of Italy, they won. The northern states became the Northern German Confederation. In 1871, Otto Von Bismarck provoked the French, and got the French to provoke war against them, so he would have the support of the independent German states. The Germans defeated the French and the Palace of Versailles proclaimed Wilhelm the first new emperor of Germany. Germany went on to become the dominant power of continental Europe.

Many slaves escaped and met up during this, to select a leader and start a rebellion. Within months the slave army grew to tens of thousands of people, and they destroyed many plantations and killed many whites. Now free people of color had a small rebellion demanding the right to vote. The French government sent people to the colony to try and restore the order in 1792, but then war broke out in France in 1793, and the people in Haiti became split again on certain issues. The British came to Haiti, and many whites treated them welcomely, as they said they would reinstate slavery and take the rights of free people of color, but they also captured land. He was born the son of an educated slave, and won the favor of the plantation owner. He was legally freed in 1776, and was married and had two sons. He helped his former master, then joined Black forces who burned plantations and killed many mulattoes and Europeans. He soon got an army of his own and taught them guerrilla warfare, and he was soon recognized as a general and knighted due to his extraordinary military ability. The British helped the Portuguese family escape Europe and set up court in Brazil during the Napoleonic Wars. Even after the war though, King John VI didnt return to Portugal straight away because he thought his prescence would stop any revolution movements from happening in Brazil. The people in Portugal rebelled, and demanded King John VI come back, and so he did, and left his son Pedro to rule Brazil in his place, but people also wanted him to go back, but he stayed after being convinced to. Pedro declared independence after hearing that the Cortes in Portugal wanted to remove the rest of his power, and abolish all reforms his government had made thus far. He traveled to Rio and took title of Emperor, but would still rule according to the Constitution, and Brazil separated from Portugal.

The Cortes in Portugal wanted him to return and complete his political education. He did not return though, and declared Brazil's independence on September 7, 1822.
