On January 21, our class began with an orientation session, where we were introduced to the course requirements and expectations. The instructor took the time to explain the passing grade for the subject, as well as the classroom policies that we would need to follow throughout the course. In addition to discussing the course requirements, we also reviewed the syllabus in detail. This helped us gain a clearer understanding of the course objectives, the topics that would be covered, and the various projects and activities that we would be undertaking. One of the key components of the course that was highlighted during the syllabus review was the demonstration that we would be required to complete. We were informed that we would be assigned to specific classrooms and would need to decide on a topic for our demonstration.

During the next meeting, the focus shifted to the k-12 curriculum. Our instructor led a comprehensive discussion on the curriculum’s content, purpose, and teaching guidelines. This session was highly informative, and it helped us understand the importance of k-12 curriculum in shaping the learning experience of students. As future educators, it was beneficial for us to gain insight into the curriculum’s objectives and how they can be achieved in the classroom. A key aspect of the k-12 curriculum that was emphasized during the discussion was its focus on improving learner outcomes. We learned about the specific knowledge and skills that students should acquire in each topic area and how teachers can effectively deliver the curriculum to achieve these outcomes. The discussion also highlighted the importance of the curriculum as a guideline for future teachers, providing a framework for teaching and learning that is both structured and flexible.

Furthermore, the instructor took the time to explain the differences between EPP (Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan) and TLE (Technology and Livelihood Education). We learned that EPP is focused on grade 4-6, while the TLE is focused on grade 7-12. This clarification helped us understand the distinct objectives and approaches of each program and how they contribute to the overall goals of the k-12 curriculum. Overall, the orientation and discussion sessions provided us with a thorough understanding of the course requirements, the k-12 curriculum, and our roles as future educators. The sessions were engaging, informative, and helped us prepare for our teaching responsibilities.

Today, our instructor, sir Nico, assigned us a task to review and critique a pre-existing lesson plan. We were also asked to choose a partner to collaborative with, allowing us to share our ideas and perspectives in evaluating the lesson plan. To complete this task, my partner and I decided to divide the work and tackle it individually before combining our findings and discussing our observations. Upon reviewing the rubric, I noticed a few areas for improvement. Firstly, the rubric wasn’t in a table format, making it difficult to read and understand. I suggested that a table-based rubric would be more effective.

Additionally, I felt that the instructions could be clearer and more specific. For instance, “5 points if all the team members participated in the activity” so that the students will understand the instructions clearly. I also caught a minor error a misspelled word (“fished” instead of “finished”). This highlighted the importance of proofreading our work carefully to avoid mistakes and ensure that our intended message is conveyed accurately. The lesson plan’s procedure is well-organized and accurate, providing a clear guide for its implementation. I also noticed that the assessment is carefully aligned with the lesson’s objectives, ensuring that student’s learning is effectively measured.

Furthermore, the lesson plan incorporates the core values of the Department of Education (DepEd), including the importance of being makalikasan by telling to the students to pick a pieces of paper on the ground, being a makadiyos as they also started the discussion by having a silent prayer.

Since the week 6 is fro preliminary exam,

We are moved to week 7-8 we tackled the Module 5: Developing Problem-Based and Project-Based Approaches. With this topic Problem-Based Approach talks about the way on how to engage the students in active learning, promoting deeper understanding and retention of knowledge by presenting students with complex, open-ended problems. This approach will also help the students develop their essential skills and collaborations. With this session I also learn the differences between problem-based and project-based approaches.

In conclusion, The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach offers a wide array of benefits for students, extending far beyond simply acquiring factual knowledge.
