It was beautiful. Happy times! Camping next to the sand dunes, going cockle picking, fishing with my dad, cooking on the beach, eating the fish and seafood we had caught next to the beach... It was marvellous. 

Things have changed, though, now. You can't access this place by car anymore, but you can still walk there (it's a 3-hour-walk there and back). Or you can't go cockle-picking unless you have a special permission.

Still, whenever I go there it's like getting away from it all, since there's never a soul around: it's so off the beaten track. It's peaceful and unspoilt by tourism, that's for sure, although some people may find it too quiet.

There were only stones and walls, but we imagined towers, tunnels, and prisons and fought against imaginary enemies. At sunset, when the castle was surrounded by orange, red and purple colours, we all ran down the mountain and went to dinner with my grandparents, who lived in the town. Years later, I married my husband in the castle church and recently I have visited the castle with my little sons. But now you have to buy a ticket to go in because there is an institution, the castle friends, that restored it and it is closed at night to avoid damage.

I used to go there with my parents once or twice a month, changing the route every time but always ending up in the same place to eat, thanks to the big shadow of the tree. I loved climbing the tree and sleeping on its branches, it was so satisfying and relaxing. It’s been a long since I last visited it, but I'm planning to go there again now that spring is starting.

We used to go there with the family but with the years it has become a place that we also frequent with friends. We can go for a walk, stop for lunch or just have a swim.

It used to be a more hidden and less crowded place, but now a lot of people visit it, so it gets a bit crowded.

Even so, I love to go there sometimes, especially in summer.

It's beautiful, isn't it? I'm proud to say that I come from this area!
Not many people know this beach, it's quite unspolit by tourism, and you can get there only by boat or on foot (in my case). I'm sure tourists will get there one day, though. That's why it is so important for me to make the most out of it now, so I make sure I go there nearly every weekend - especially in the summer. The water is crystal clear, but sometimes, if it's really windy, or there has been a storm, it might get full of algae, leaves and dirt. However, this doesn't happen very often in the summer. 
Near there there is a nice chiringuito where you can enjoy a nice seafood paella, or tapas of all kinds. One of my favourite ones is made with algae, actually, and another one with eels. This is my particular place in the world. Here lived my grandmother and my mother still lives there. Although it's sometimes a noisy city, I know its secret places, like quiet squares or hidden corners. And, if you are from here, you can find the most lonely moments ot the day, when everybody is doing other things, as sleeping or shopping. I spent my childhood here and everybody knows what this means. It's near the sea, its buildings are low and life is always restless. It's a sailors' neighborhood, a tourist destination...but it is my home too. My dream is coming back there. Only a clue: it's one of the most famous cities in the world. It is a landscape that combines the mountains, hiking, sports, suspension bridges and impressive wall stairs. You can get there in different ways, but the most common is by car and walking for two hours to get to this fantastic image. I recommend going kayaking (alone or with a partner) and walking back the steep paths so you can enjoy the scenery and the sport. Not suitable for people with vertigo!

I chose this place because it helps me disconnect from my daily life and allows me to close my eyes, breathe the tranquility and when I open them I can see the immensity of this landscape. In addition, I am combining my favorite hobbies: sports and nature.

It’s located close to the beach, and I used to go there with my parents every summer, when I was a child.
When I go there, or I'm just passing by, it makes me feel something special, it takes me to those days when my only concern was how to swim faster or which ice cream I’d choose next. And I have to mention the ice cream because this place is full of ice cream parlours, and it was a tradition in my family that every Friday during the vacations, we would go to this place to have the biggest ice cream you could ever imagine, and to buy a comic book in the street market that you could find there on Fridays.

One of my most favourite places is a beautiful valley sited between mountains. I can’t show you a photo because it’s a very characteristic place and you will recognise it easily.
The thing that makes this spot special is because in order to go there there aren't any roads. We can go there on foot or by train (in the photo) only.
This is a special train, it goes into mountains and tunnels in a trip of half an hour approximately, and at the end of the trip there is a long tunnel and finally you get to a big valley,  feeling an astonishing experience.

This statue is an icon of my city because because it appears on the bottles of this spirituous liquor which is manufactured in an old but important factory of my city.
In addition, it’s located at the entrance of another symbol of my city, “The X Bridge” (I'm not giving you its real name because it might be a spoiler), on the beach. I like to walk there when I’m sad or discouraged. Also, when you walk over the bridge, you have stunning views of the coast and it allows me to disconnect and reflect. The best time to walk is in spring, because the weather is good and there aren’t many people yet. In summer it’s very crowded with tourists and people taking a walk or doing sports along the seafront. Currently, the bridge is run-down due to a storm and you cannot pass.
If you want to know what city I'm talking about, you only have to look at the label of this drink.

My favourite spot is a natural space near a big city. There are breathtaking mountains and you can visit a Benedictine monastery.

I have chosen this spot because it is an iconic place in my region. There, you can visit the monastery and you will be within a natural area. When I was a teenager a used to go there with my family and friends, and I have very good memories. Because it is not in a remote place, it can be visited easily.

It makes me feel calm. I get away from it all. If you go there at the weekend, probably it will be overcrowded. So, I recommend going there on a working day. Also, you will recharge your batteries by walking off the beaten track and enjoying the beautiful landscape.

When I was young, I used to go hiking with my parents every month. And every time I see pictures of that place, it brings back memories of my family weekends outdoors... away from civilization, into nature and enjoying the little things like a picnic on the ground and later a swim in the lake. We really had fun!

However, things have changed since then. You still have to walk to reach this place, but it is a beaten track. The peace and quiet that characterised this place many years ago have now disappeared due to tourism.

However, my parents still go there, outside the tourism season. And it is possible not to see a soul and to enjoy the immensity of the place.

When I was a child there wasn’t a sign, only trees, and later, I went to see some parachuters jumping to the air till sea, it was amazing. 

I can remember burying my last hamster there and of course going to show the views to my girlfriend. 

Now it is an iconic place of my town, a lot of people come to see the views, in fact you can go by car.

We usually go for a walk or go cycling, it is a very special place.

I’m not from this city and when I feel overwhelmed or a little lost I go there to take up myself again. I just love walking around, sitting on the sand and looking at the sea. It is a touristic place and in summer it is overcrowded but I do not mind at all. Depending on the time you go there you can find important cultural events. You can also find many artists along the promenade showing their abilities and if you like arts and crafts you will probably love its hand-made shops and the traditional food, of course! I will certainly live in this coastal village some day.

It’s a lookout located near a small village that has a population of 100 habitants. I discovered this place some years ago and I got captivated by its beauty. This lookout offers a magnificent view of a very famous reservoir that has a church visible when the water level is low. It's also very easy to reach, and it doesn’t matter if you aren’t an athletic person.

Surrounded by nature, it seems to be in a remote place; but it's only an hour and a half from a big city. As you can see in the picture, the landscape is stunning. 

Nowadays the building looks fantastic, very well reconstructed and well-kept. Years ago it was different. When I was fifteen, I was there for a fortnight to work in an archaeological excavation with more people. I have a lot of good memories of that time. I remember working in the apse, laughing with my mates. In my opinion, I grew a lot that summer: the experience made me more confident, and I made new friends.

I feel nostalgic and happy at the same time when I go there. But like the first time I was there, the landscape always impresses me.

From this place I can see some parts of three different cities. It is a mountain near the coast whose most predominant tree is the pine tree and also there are a lot of bushes. Due to global warming and the increase of temperature, the area is too dry. I have chosen this spot because I like to be there; I try to go every week. It makes me feel relaxed and lively, there is no noise, only the sound of birds. There, I have even seen some rabbits. On holiday, in the summer, I do not go there because it is too hot.

Also, we climbed trees, recollected all kinds of leaves, went cycling and  sometimes we caught tadpoles. After a few days we returned them. 

Nowadays, I go there often because it makes me feel relaxed observing nature.

It’s considered a natural reserve formed between the mouth of two rivers. From there you can go on foot or riding a bicycle through different routes. Also, you can enjoy looking at the flora and fauna that live there while you are in a kind of cabin to not disturb. In this photo the landscape is green, but in the rainy season, it’s empty of water and a lot of birds can be seen drinking and fishing. I chose this location because when I was a child, I visited it and I have good memories about it. Last summer I went back to this place and I relived it. When I’m there I spend the time admiring the landscape.

It’s a beach near a very famous town where everybody likes to go in summer because in this area there is a very famous market. 

It was a very quiet place a long time ago, but nowadays everybody knows that it gets overcrowded, except if you visit it before July and during the week.

I love this beach because you can breathe calmly, and just looking at the blue water you can disconnected of the rest of the world.

Finally, if you like the sea, come to this place to swim and find some special kinds of fish that you are not going to find in another place.

It’s a special place for me because whenever I go there, I feel like everything that makes me feel bad disappears. It’s my place to recharge batteries and relax for a bit.
I used to go there with my best friend before she moved on, so it makes that place even more special for me. We used to go there every morning to see the sunrise and every afternoon to see the sunset because there are breathtaking views. And now I usually go there when I feel a bit blue. 
I also like this place because from there you can see all my town. And if you put effort into it, you can also distinguish the other towns nearby.
When I’m there I feel like I’m on the top of the world, I feel calm because it’s off the beaten track and it’s also remote. It is a stunning place worth going to, as it is also a mixture of history, nature, and sport.

In addition, it also brings back memories of my childhood, as my mother used to go up here when she was a child, so for me it is a place full of magic.

And you choose how you want to recharge your batteries: by walking, running (there is a trail race with its name), you can go knowing for sure that you will not meet anyone, or you can go up on a weekend when it is overcrowded, full of families.

This place is located 38 kilometers from my town and is where my parents used to take my brother and I so that we could go fishing, swim, observe the different species of wildlife, etc.
