The dialogue reveals that Garcia's murderers uses Scott a respectable British citizen to provide him an alibi and that Scott was not aware that he had fallen into their plan.
The plot is also moved forward because it has given the characters a clue of what to investigate, they will want to investigate why they killed the victim and where they fled of to.
The dialogue hints at secrets yet to be unveiled, the reader can infer that his two servants did not like him or they were pressured into doing so by some external forces that could do something with the note Garcia received.

Mme Bonacieux and d'Artagnan are happy to be reunited but only for a fleeting moment, they realize that she has been poisoned and who has done it. After Mme Bonacieux dies, d'Artagnan weeps and Athos comforts him, saying, ""Be a man, my friend: women weep for the dead, men avenge them!""(p.643). As we can see the conflict causes the death of d'Artagnan's beloved and now he and his friends especially he and Athos are now taking the initiative to attack instead of countering and defending against Milady. The cardinal is secretly relieved that he had been rid of such a dangerous ally and he considers the future of the 21 year old and gives him a permit to lieutenancy. Finally he raised his head, fixed his eagle eye on that loyal, open, intelligent physiognomy,  read on that tear-furrowed face all the suffering he had endures over the past month, and reflected for the third for fourth time on how much future this boy of twenty-one had before him, and what resources his activity, courage. and spirit could offer to a good master."(p.668). As a result the cardinal and d'Artagnan are now on better terms, and since Milady de Winter is gone, there is no reason for any malice between them and d'Artagnan become one of the cardinal's friends and Rochefort, the man, d'Artagnan met at Meung  also get to start to know each other, and after some conflict they are now friends. He meets Rochefort, but at this point does not know his name, and he provokes him for laughing at his horse. D'Artagnan gets knocked out in a two on one battle and his letter stolen. ""My letter of introduction!" cried d'Artagnan, "my letter of introduction, sagndieu! or I'll skewer you all like buntings!""(The Three Musketeers). This part of the conflict affects d'Artagnan, for the better because it forces him to rely on himself to get M. de Treville's approval and to get on good terms with him, instead of relying on the letter of introduction by his father. I can relate to d'Artagnan when he is going because I once traveled abroad for two months I went with my relatives but without my parents. He runs in Atho's shoulder, which was already injured and thus Athos invites him to a duel at noon. D'Artagan then goes but he manages to provoke the other two musketeers, Porthos and Aramis. This scene affects d'Artagnan and the other characters because it is how they first met, and later in the duel, they all realize that d'Artagnan did not refuse the duels against three different people, when Athos brings Porthos and Aramis as his backups. This is their first meeting and then there is a conflict, as M. le cardinal's guards find them and they fight. From this point on the three musketeers will befriend d'Artagnan and they will go on adventures together and be involved in the main conflict of the story.
