Gaisce is Ireland's National Challenge Reward. It is a challenge from the President of Ireland and anyone can do it. The Presidents Award works on the basis of a personal challenge set by you for. This is how it works, you first decide what tier you are doing, Bronze, Silver or Gold. If it is your first year doing Gaisce you start at Bronze as it is a tiered process( so if you do Bronze the first year you have  the option to do Silver next year) but you have to be at the age of 15 to do the Bronze in Gaisce and then 16 for Silver etc.  You then decide what you want to do for your Community Involvement, Personal Skill and Adventure Journey.
 For Community you do your chosen local charity and help them out for 13 weeks( One hour a week). I chose Epilepsy Ireland, in Epilepsy Ireland I filled boxes for Rose week, I went to town on Rose week and I told people where in town they had to collect and how much the rose and pins were, I then went around town with a checklist and made sure that everyone was in the right place.  This then added up to my 13 hours so I had my community work done. 
For my Personal Skill I chose to do piano lessons as I always wanted to try piano and I never got the motivation to do it so this was the perfect excuse. So at the end of the 13 weeks and I completed my Personal Skill and I actually have decided that I am going to keep on piano next year.
For my Physical Recreation I went to Dennehy's health and fitness, here I did a lot of full body workouts but mostly leg workouts so I could train for the 100km cycle/ Adventure Journey. When I was done my 13 weeks of Dennehy's fitness you have to do an extra 13 weeks of one of your activity's so I did an extra 13 weeks of Dennehy's fitness. 
Since the COVID-19 pandemic is happening we could not do our adventure journey so we had to do a hypothetical Adventure Journey. We basically had to plan our own Adventure Journey. We had to have a power-point presentation and a written project about the novel. Things that had to be included:  An opening (what I am covering what the book is about), setting of the novel,  key moments, favorite character and rating/conclusion of the novel. This was worth 20% of our Christmas exams also.
The book I chose was The Anne Frank Diary's. The Anne Frank Diary's is about Anne Frank a teenage jewish girl who lived in germany then moved to Amsterdam during World War II, the diary's follow Anne before and during hiding from the Nazi's. I taught this would be a great book to do a review on because 1. I never read it before and I always wanted to read and 2. Its a novel that you can interest you in so many ways( history, the way people live there lives compared to now etc.).
Overall I had a great folder with all the information I could get from the novel and I had an amazing power-point presentation as well. I earned 19/20% for my project which was a huge confidence boost for me. I hate going up and presenting in- front of a class as my anxiety gets very bad and leading up to it I felt so stressed about it. I went up to the top of the classroom shacking with fear, anxiety and stress. At first I was crumbling but I picked myself up and I accidentally mixed up my flashcards but I fixed them and  continued and after that moment I felt way more confident in my presentation and in myself. Our presentation was supposed to be 5 minutes, but my presentation ended up being 15 minutes and I didn't even realized that I was up there for so long, I was horrified that I was up there that long when only to me it felt like 5 minutes. But when Roxie also winds up in prison, Billy takes on her case as well. This then turns into a media circus of headlines. Neither woman will be outdone in their fight against each other and the public for fame and celebrity.
I first did an interview for construction as I got an A in woodwork in my junior certificate so I thought I could be a great asset to the crew but I wasnt enjoying it as I hoped as none of my friends were on the same crew as me so I decided to ask if I could join the art crew as the art crew at first were helping the construction so I kinda just  slipped away from the construction crew. I did this because 1. 6 of my friends were in the art crew and 2. It would be something new as I have never done proper art before, the only thing close was me sketching in woodwork but other than that I had no experience. So I ended up joining the art crew and we made so many things. We made the background the newspapers and one huge poster that is currently hanging up in social area. These are some pictures that I took when we completed them.

What did I learn during this module?
I learned about a DCG based application and how it works. I also learned about making a informative poster. I learned about different types of housing idea's and design's.
What did you enjoy about the module?
I enjoyed learning about different architects and how they design their structure's. I also enjoyed designing my own house  and sketching ideas for it.
What did you least enjoy about the module?
I didnt enjoy the DCG application as i didnt really get what I was doing so I found it quite boring after a while .
What skills did you use during the module?
The skills I used during this module were creativity( thinking of ideas for designing a house), art/sketching ( sketching design ideas) and brainstorm (brainstorming about projects, different features of housing etc.) and I also used my researching skills( When I needed to research information on the house I wanted to talk about on a poster).

Even though the project was worth nothing it still had value to me as it was another opportunity for me to grow, to grow into a new and more confident person.
