Prior to being selected as an astronaut, Watkins was a geologist and NASA working on various projects, like the Perseverance rover and the Mars sample return mission. She was also selected as one of the astronauts eligible for Artemis missions, America's return to the moon. She helped make reports and other women advance in STEM. In 1958 she received the promotion to become and engineer at NASA. One of her well known reports was about behavior of the boundary layer of air around the airplane.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Dr. Willie Hobbs Moore was an accredited engineer and physicist.&nbsp; Dr. Moore attended the University of Michigan and became the first African-American women to earn a doctorate in physics. After earning her doctorate, Dr. Moore stayed at the University of Michigan as a researcher and lecturer. Dr. Moore than became moved to the Ford Motor Company and became an executive there. Throughout her life, Dr Moore worked as a tutor at the Saturday African-American Academy. She was also a large part in helping minorities enter STEM fields.
