She was also selected as one of the astronauts eligible for Artemis missions, America's return to the moon. Given her geologist background, she will likely be on one of the first missions to the lunar surface, and has a high chance of being the first black woman to visit the moon.

Because of prejudices in her work place she never reached the position of manager that she was qualified for and therefore left the program.

Throughout her life, Dr Moore worked as a tutor at the Saturday African-American Academy. She was also a large part in helping minorities enter STEM fields. Even though she passed away in 1994, her legacy lives on through the thousands of black women working in STEM.
