The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a landmark civil rights and US labor law in the US that outlaws discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin. This was proposed by John F. Kennedy and later signed into law Lyndon B. Johnson. This Act made it illegal to for any person to be denied a service based on the color of their skin, gender, religion, or national origin. Not only this, but it created the Employment Opportunity Commission. This act also forbid the use of federal funds for any discriminatory program, authorized the Office of Education to assist with school desegregation, and prohibited the unequal application of voting requirements.
