Hello everyone! While this looks nothing like me, I think this is an interesting image. I am faculty in the College of Nursing and do enjoy the continued learning of all things. My journey has taken me through the ranks of nursing, now to a clinical faculty position, where I enjoy the teaching and mentorship of graduate students learning to be Nurse Practitioners. My name is Banikalyan Swain, and I am a Research Assistant Professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine. My work focuses on advancing fish immunology and vaccine development, with the ultimate goal of improving fish health and sustainability in aquaculture. Over the years, I have developed expertise in molecular biology, immunology, and biotechnology, applying these to address challenges in aquatic animal health.

I'm a professor at the College of Journalism. I teach students how to write for newscasts, broadcasts, and podcasts for the NPR station here on campus. My specialties include audio editing and narrative story creation. I stress the importance of empathetic interviews and taking the time to talk with subjects. In my free time, I like playing badminton here on campus. Frankly, it's hard to beat students when I'm three times their age. But, when I occasionally do, it actually makes those victories twice as sweet. Also, I enjoy making people laugh and smile (though they mostly roll their eyes).
