During this team the Average rainfall reaches as high as 14.9 in at the end of march and stays around that range. During the next few months the Average rainfall begins to decrease and stays at quite a dry spell for most of the year. It gets as low as 1.6 inches in October and stays that way until December when it begins to increase

The water in Belem is very fresh, with the port usually staying on average at 1.45ppt when normal ocean water is much much higher. This fresh water is a direct result of the ports proximity to the amazon river. This river supplies the port with high amounts of fresh water. This would have drastically changed the ecosystem and life in the water.
