The Puritans also believed that saten was very active in the world, blaming the devil himself for causing anything unseeable that harmed people in any way. Tituba showed a group of girls about voodoo and black magic, telling them stories about it causing the girls to act in a weird way bringing attention to them. People accusing Tituba on being a witch, in which she responded with pointing fingers on other being a witch also causing the Puritans to turn on each other facing their neighbors in court claiming they are witches; this ended with 19 people hanged to death.
