I've wondered about this too. I was thinking that limiting the time they use technology in class and supervising their screens would be one way to limit distractions

I know that with our students they got into trouble with getting on things they aren't suppose to be on. I know we have to monitor what they are getting on. Also they were emailing each other in class so we made it were they could only email teachers and not other students.

One thing you can do is give the students an educational goal while they are working with technology as well as limiting their time. Another aspect you can look at is screen monitoring. You can watch while they are on their laptops and if they are not doing what they need to be doing you can lock their screen.

By establishing rules with the class prior to tech use can help them from getting distracted. Also allowing some time (as available) for students to have some fun with learning apps.

I believe you can keep the students from being distracted by setting a time limit on their screen time. There are also lots of different apps that let you monitor what your students are looking at.

I've thought about this question a lot recently because of the increased use of technology due to the pandemic. One thing I learned when researching ways to combat this was that there are a number of really great softwares available for educators to help monitor their students while on their devices and keep them on task. My own school used a software called LanSchool while another software a found was called Netop Visions. Softwares like these could be adopted by the entire school and would help keep students focused.

I think that you can instill consequences for the miss use of their technology, locking websites so the students can not have access, and using software that allows teachers to see each of their students screens.
