The Great Depression (1929-1941) is the era of when the stock market of the United States had crashed. Most U.S. citizens during that era had become severely impoverished. It also didn't help that President Herbert Hoover didn't handle the situation well as his recommendation of having the citizens helping each other out instead of the U.S. government did not solve the problem at all.
