Lucy often joined her older sister Annette and their parents on energetic walks thourgh some nearby woods and she enjoyed the all the plants she had seen.

I can tell Lucy as a child liked plants because the text “Growing in Place” says “Lucy enjoyed all the plants and wildflowers.” This sentence states that she enjoys plants and wild flowers this led her to college in which she studied ecology. Then she went around the world to collect flowers and then learn about them I know thIf someone likes something a lot they would travel to a lot of different places just to see it just like Lucy did she collected many different flowers from many places just to study them! This led her to wanting to protect these buetiful flowers. In conclusion I know that Lucy loved plants and wildlife because the text said she enjoyed them, she collected them from all around the country, and that she conserved the plants to save them from disappearance all these sentences tell me that her interest in flowers and in wildflowers grew throughout her life

I can tell Lucy was interested in plants because she followed her mom and her older sister on long walks through nearby woods. Lucy loved looking at wildflowers and other plants. She kept a record on how to identify plants, and draw what she could see in the flower. Lucy helped her mom gather a collection of dry plants. They would keep the plants in sheets of paper so they would stay preserved. In 1917 Lucy taught botany at the university and collected and photographed plants to make slide shows. Later, Lucy made a field guide to publish that identitfied plants in the forests. You can see the plants Lucy collected in the Smithsonian museum.

In the beginning , the story, “Growing in place” the sequence of events are when she was young to when she was older.Olso it is leading up to what her passion and job is in the story. I know this cause in the beginning Lucy would go out to the woods with her family and observe plants. This tells me the sequence of events is leading up to Lucy’s job by little Lucy observing plants. Another one is when Lucy went to the University of Cincinnati to study geology and ecology. This tells me she is doing these classes to learn about the environment which leads up to the events of what she is going to do when she is older. One last example is Lucy and her sister lived in a house near the woods so that can continue observing the plants. This tells me this will bring her to what she will be known for. In the story “Growing in place” the sequence of events are leading up to the events of Lucy’s job .
