         <description><![CDATA[<div>Bartolo was taught as a goldsmith he left Florence in 1400 with , <a href="https://academic.eb.com/levels/collegiate/article/Sigismondo-Pandolfo-Malatesta/50286">Sigismondo Malatesta</a>. He went back&nbsp; home when he heard there was a competition was being held <br> to make a pair of bronze doors for the Baptistery of the cathedral of Florence&nbsp; He and six other artists had to  represent the biblical scene of <a href="https://academic.eb.com/levels/collegiate/article/Abraham/3379">Abraham</a>’s sacrifice Ghiberti’s panels showed  "a graceful and lively composition" as well as his mastery  goldsmith and art  was chosen to make the doors by a large panel of judges; their decision brought immediate and lasting recognition to  young artists. <br>(Lorenzo Ghiberti.)<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ghiberti’s mother&nbsp; married Cione Ghiberti in 1370, and they lived in Pelago,&nbsp; she went to Florence and lived there as the common-law wife with a goldsmith named Bartolo di Michele. They were married in 1406&nbsp; It is not for sure&nbsp; which man was his father,&nbsp; But in his&nbsp; early years, Lorenzo considered&nbsp; himself Bartolo’s son, and  Bartolo trained Ghiberti's  as a goldsmith. Ghiberti also had training as a painter; and  in the autobiographical he made he said , he left Florence in 1400 with a painter to work in the town of <a href="https://academic.eb.com/levels/collegiate/article/Pesaro/59388"><strong>Pesaro</strong></a> for its ruler, <a href="https://academic.eb.com/levels/collegiate/article/Sigismondo-Pandolfo-Malatesta/50286"><strong>Sigismondo Malatesta</strong></a>.<br>(Lorenzo Ghiberti.)</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
