How does the poem portray non-white peoples?

The poem portrays the non-white people as inferior, and that they need to be helped by the whites. Kipling writes, "Take up the White Man’s burden
Send forth the best ye breed
Go send your sons to exile" The author suggests that the white men are the best of the best, and should be sent to help those in need--the non-whites.

How does this attitude compare with that of the narrator in Things Fall Apart?

The attitudes seen in Things Fall Apart are the opposite of Kipling's in "The White Man's Burden". In Things Fall Apart, the attitudes at first are nonchalant because the clan does not worry about the white men. In contrast, Kipling is very is rude and hateful towards the non-whites presented in the poem. For example, Kipling writes, "Take up the White Man’s burden
And reap his old reward:" This excerpt shows that Kipling refers to the non-whites as a burden and as old rewards.

How is Things Fall Apart a response to and a revision of the view of non-white peopleas represented in The White Man's Burden?

Things Fall Apart is a response and a revision of the view of non-white people in "The White Man's Burden" because it is showing the other perspective between the two opposing sides. "The White Man's Burden" shows the viewpoints of the white men, while Things Fall Apart shows the perspective of the non-white people.
