Die Pressekonferenz war International.  Auf die Frage, ob es den Bürgen, egal ob West-oder Ostbürger, erlaubt wäre auf die andere Seite zu reisen, kam als Antwort, dass sie mit einer Genehmigung des Staates einreisen dürften. 
Auf eine sarkastisch angehauchte Frage einer Westreporterin, ob für eine freie Stadt eine "Mauer" gebaut werden müsste und die Bürger somit eingesperrt werden um frei zu sein. Er versicherte, dass "niemand die Absicht hat eine Mauer zu errichten" und  formulierte ihre Frage so um, dass es als Wunsch des Westen galt, eine Abgrenzung zu errichten, aber mit den Arbeitskräften des Ostens.
In der letzten Frage, eines englischen Reporters, will er wissen, ob es nicht sinnvoll wäre Deutschland wieder zu vereinen und dass somit jeder die Chance hat sich freu zu bewegen.
