Civic Education gives us knowledge about our rights so we can claim those rights and defend them in case others want to take them away from us. We are able to use them to our benefit and we can use this knowledge to make sure that our Democracy is well supported. We can choose leaders and representitives who will act in the public favor and not just for their own political gain. More people who are well educated in politics result in more votes and better support for actions that better the community. Learning about our government system and how we can make change is an important duty not only to our community, but for our defended rights.

It includes giving us an opportunity to change the world around us and is apart of the Democracy. We have the power to chose our leaders and people who are most educated to help us. Also, it could enforce laws for countries, Bill of Rights, and to make sure the generation is the right way to go. It helps motivate us to prepare everyone to participate as a American citizen. The democracy takes on citizens to take action on active interests in governments, informed government, and how the government should act.

Informed citizens results in active citizenship. It provides us with knowledge about our rights as citizens and ordinary people.

I agree with the author of the article "The Decline of Civic Education and The Effect On Our Democracy." We should be putting Civic Education back into schools and not more focused on STEM. If 32% of Americans can't name a single branch in our government, then how are we suppose to know our rights. Knowing our rights is the single most important piece of knowledge that we should study. Even just knowing a few amendments of The Bill of Rights is better than none. We should be taught to be defending our rights, and less about deciding our future career.

Civic education is a significant topic, especially to the younger generation, because we can use the information and laws we learn to claim and defend our rights if someone tries to take them away from us. We also need to keep track of what our political leaders say and promise to make sure they keep it. This will help our community stay strong, since citizen participation is one of the most influential factors of a democracy. It's our job to keep ourselves and other safe. For example, the video "Why Civic Education is Important" demonstrates that an election is 100% fair if only a certain age group votes, and as the TED talk told us, many young people choose not to have a voice, even though this may effect our future tremendously. Knowledge is power.

Civic education is one very important and is a big part of our democracy. Our education system does not spend the time as it should teaching out students, our country's future about civic engagements. Civic education is what teaches our students about engaging in the active citizenship that shapes our democracy. Without proper learning students may appear lost or feel as if they do not have a voice. In our democracy every voice is heard and if civic education was applied more to school then our country would be changing for the better with more people voting and students speaking out about problems in our society.

Civic education is important because it improves the overall contribution of citizens. A democracy gives citizens the right to participate in government affairs. To be able to have a fully functional democracy citizens must participate and have knowledge of government. With civic education citizens learn about their rights and responsibilities as members of society. Our government is constantly evolving in politics. I i think that if everyone is given a civic education at a young age we would be more informed and increase voting rates. I understand that some teachers try to avoid political arguments in the classroom but I think it’s a necessity. In the article “Decline of Civic Education” the author stated that “only 31% of Americans can name the three branches of government (and 32% cannot name a single branch).” I think basic knowledge of government should be given to all students. I think an interest in politics among children would grow.

The importance of Civic education is to help us understand our democracy. Civic education is meant to help us be more involved in politics, allowing us to learn more about our civil rights and government rights. However, there is also responsibility as well. Civic Education tells us as people of a nation what we should to better our government; after all, the power is within the people. It teaches us that we must act in order for the government to make changes, for our opinions to be included in the decisions that are being made. We hold up democracy, and a price is always paid for it. Civic education hands people opportunities to prepare for what the future holds for our government. We also learn about how to not violate the rights of others and how that declines the quality of having a better democracy.

Civic Education is important for people to be engaged in because if they aren't aware of the government and political issues then the majority of votes will not be smartly chosen and will lead to a weak, unstable government unable to make great decisions to keep our country strong. How good the government is or the quality of government depends on us, the people. As a democracy, it is the people's role to educate themselves and those around them so when it comes to voting, we end up with a stable government. In the text, In 2011, when Newsweek administered the United States Citizenship Test to over 1000 American citizens, 38% of Americans failed." Our country would fail to succeed if people don't educate themselves on the importance of politics.

So that is really important for realizing our political environment and helping us participate in democratic processes. Civic education provides us with knowledge such as Civil Rights, Roles & and Functions of Government institution. The main role for Civic leaning is to provide with active and Responsible Citizenship. “Our democratic system depends on citizens to take an active interest in the affairs of our government, develop informed opinions about how our government should act, and chose representatives who share their beliefs about the direction our country should take.” This quote to me means that if you want a democratic government, there has to be active and responsible citizens with respectable protests and spread awareness.

Civic Education plays a big role in our society and is important for several reasons. For starters, as stated in the video, "It provides us with knowledge about our rights as ordinary people and on the roles and functions of government institutions and parliament." (0:39) This knowledge is very important because it helps us as citizens, to not only know and understand the rights that belong to us, but also to help us defend these rights if we're ever threatened to have them taken away. In addition to that, the video also states that, "The overall objective of civil education is to promote active and responsible citizenship." (1:44) Now, this is important because in order for democracies to be successful and to function properly, the citizens within that democracy must be active, and not only that, but they also have to be monitoring the government and making sure that their leaders are being held accountable, and that they're fulfilling their promises and serving the voters. Overall, Civic Education is extremely important and allows us to not only be well-informed about how our government is run, but to be active citizens as well, and to also give us the opportunity to change the things that we feel need to be changed in our society and the world around us.

The sole purpose for civic education is the courage and empower us and to understand our political environment. When we understand our political environments then we can participate in our democratic processes. This is important because it helps you understand what's happening in our political world and what certain things mean. As it states in the video it also provides us with knowledge and it helps us understand our rights and to claim our rights(0:52). In today's society it is important to know your rights and to educate yourself on certain topics. In the article "The Decline of Civic Education" by Brendan Bernicker he states that in 2015 study that was conducted by the Annenburg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania that study shows that only 31% of Americans can name all 3 branches of government while 32% cannot. This shows that how uneducated today's society is and it's important to know these things because these are the people who are running your country and the people who are making the big decisions.

Why is Civic Education important? This is such an important question that we, the students, should have answers to. I learned that Civic Education is indeed important so it should really be part of our required subject course at school. According to the article by Brendan Bernicke “The Decline of Civic Education and the Effect on our Democracy”, he states that “If we really care about preserving our democracy for future generations, we will stop treating civics education as secondary to math and science instruction and put it back at the core of our school curricula”. By having knowledge about Civic Education, we are aware of how our government works, and understand how important our role and responsibility as active citizens are. Successful democracy depends on how we engage as informed citizens. We can participate in political activities such as volunteering, protesting on specific issues, rallying, and political activism. Not only does Civic education teach us our rights as people, but what we need to do to protect and preserve our democracy. Civic education makes us aware of what is happening politically around us, so we can change our world for a better place to live in.

Civic Education is important because us students have our own opinions and responses too. It plays a huge role in our society where we (as citizens) get too express how we feel about our democracy and our political opinions. We can also use Civic Education to see other people's opinions and ideas whether we agree or disagree with one another. I think it brings everyone's idea together and we are able to see how it is so important to us. Some of us, (aka students/kids) don't really understand what civic education is. This may also be why we have age restrictions to voting too. Civic education also has to sort of rely on the government because in the end they make the decision on most of the things while we give them ideas and support to our decisions. Students should have the opportunity to be mature and learn and know what is happening in our government, not by fun but to actually learn Civic Education.

With civic education, it allows our democracy to glow and strive to as high as it can go. It is important for everyone to, not only have the ability to voice their opinions, but that they want to, as everyone's voice can give an even more accurate picture of what the people, the majority want. The more people are learning about politics, the more people they would vote, and the more people vote, the more candidates will begin to sympathize with, and represent everyone. Civic education can be seen as a column that stands tall in service of its country, and now, in a time of division, and uncertainty, is when everyone, especially the young, should start to learn what's going on in politics

For an example democracy is basically civic education is to show fairness and having equal rights plus to have a voice in a matter. In the article its telling that students should be abled to be teach civic education and that its a must to be learned and that's why the public schools pay for it. To give us students a way to know democratic ways. This is teaching students that they have a voice to speak of what they what people hear with reason.

As a teen myself, I find it sad that other teens are not able to go to school. I think all kids should be able to experience the whole school thing at least once. We have our own opinions too, and we should be able to say it. Civic education is also about knowing what your rights are. It's about paying attention to each others opinions so everyone would be able to collaborate. In the article, it's telling us that students should be able to learn what civic education is about. It's considered a must learn topic, so that's why public schools pay for it. Civic education is teaching and telling students that their opinion matters as well.

This lack of knowledge will also give the government complete power and ability to keep as many secrets as they want without any suspicion. Civic Education is also important becasue what if the new generation doesnt figure out howo to use their rights and completely break the law due to lack of knowledge. Knowing your rights also can help you get emergency medical treatment for free. If the new generation is clueless of their rights the United States may be in big trouble.

Civic education also can better help us understand politics. Us students might not be of legal age to vote but it can teach us how to use other platforms to spread our message or say something we are passionate about. For a democracy to flourish it needs the people's support, without it democracy would not be a thing, the citizens including the teens who cannot vote still have a voice and still have ways to make their voice heard it just might not be on a ballot. Learning about civic education is what our future holds and it is very important for everyone to understand so democracy can stay standing.

Understanding our rights is important so we defend ourselves in situations when they try to take it away from us. Knowledge gives us the benefit to make sure that our Democracy is well stable and supported. It gives you the idea of voting the right leaders and representatives and making sure the government is not abusing its power and will act under the public favor and not for their own political or power gain. More people who are educated will understand the Bill of Rights and how you have your rights and no one can take it away from you. For example, "Why Civic Education is Important", explains that we all have our rights to make our own decisions. Especially, when it comes to voting in elections we all have our rights to speak about it if we decide to. Having knowledge and using our voice is important.

Civic Education is important because it powers civic engagement. If you are not educated on our government, how can you actively participate in it? Civic Education is all about knowledge. Knowledge obtained from Civic Education is used to protect our rights. The video “Why is Civic Education important?” states at 1:04, “We need to learn about our rights to be able to claim them for our benefit or defend them in case someone wants to take them away from us.” Another interpretation of this quote is that if you are not educated on your rights, someone might use your lack of knowledge to their advantage. An example of this is a police officer searching your home without a warrant. If you don’t now that police officers can not do that, then your lack of knowledge is being taken advantage of. Civic Engagement depends heavily on Civic Education. Some people choose not to vote because they feel that they are not educated enough. The more knowledge you gain, the more you will understand about our government and the more you will participate.

Civic education is important because active democrats depend on active citizens and helps us understand our political environment and participate in democratic processes. It provides us with knowledge that is not necessary but good to know. Knowledge is very powerful, without knowing what's going on, how you are going to be able to help claim our democratic rights and demand good goverment and to protect and support our democracy. A lot of this knowledge is laid out in our country's constitution to give as much power to ordinary people but in order to have these things we need informed, active, and responsible citizens to have a successful democracy which successful democracies solely depend on active citizens to uphold our rights. It also depends on people monitoring the government to hold them accountable to fulfil their promises and keep the voters satisfied. But it is not only about having rights it is also about having democratic responsibilities it is also up to the people to not violate the rights of others. In the end citizen participation is a key feature of a functioning democracy.
