QUESTION-Ask questions as they read. Ask who, what, when, where, and why. Use clues from the text as well as own experience.

CLARIFY- How can you figure out a difficult word or idea in the text? Reread, reread, and reread! Sound it out, move on, or talk to a friend.

The last step to the bookmark is for students to SUMARIZE- using own words, tell the main ideas of the text in order.
This video is a great example of how Reciprocal Teaching is put into practice in a second grade classroom. It shows the students working together to understand the assigned text and also show their teacher their abilities and the learning they have constructed together. According to our text, students are first introduced to each role of Reciprocal Teaching and then the teacher will slowly release control of the learning to the students. Eventually the only intervention is to make sure the students are effectively performing their roles and to monitor their progress. This is clearly shown in this video.
