Characterisation:
Nora was being flirty at the start of the scene it is because she knows that Dr Rank liked her, so she sort of flirted back. However, she decided that she should stop flirting back to him when she told Helene to bring the light in. It because she didn't want their relationship to get more serious.

Stagecraft:
"During what follows it begins to grow dark" The scene was dark because it is like something dark is happening.until Nora asked her maid to bring in the light. The light was dim because that symbolises that something dark is happening, which is Dr Rank has a crush on Nora and Nora likes Dr Rank back, too. The lamp symbolises as Nora putting a stop Dr Rank's flirtation because most of the time brightness (lamp) stops darkness (scene getting dark).

Writer's craft
Ibsen shows sexual tension between Dr Rank and Nora by showing Nora touching Dr Rank's arm and by asking him to look at her when she's dancing on the next day. I think that Nora was acting quite flirtatious, which is quite opposite to what she normally acts like, which is a child. This is because the stage directions suggest that Nora is trying to seduce Dr, Rank.

Stagecraft:
Ibsen uses the lamp as a symbol to represent the change in the mood and atmosphere, this is because when Nora instructs the maid to bring the lamp, it breaks the pacing of the scene.

The words “higher up” shows that Nora is flirtatiously teasing Dr Rank in a rather sexual way. This moment creates a lot of tension for the readers, making them feel uncomfortable with their relationship.
Stagecraft: Ibsen uses dark to symbolise Nora and Dr Rank’s secrecy and light to represent the truth behind their relationship. This is implied from when Dr Rank enters the room while it’s dark, meeting Nora. When it’s dark, there’s no one to expose Nora and Dr Rank, keeping their relationship private. When there's light, the truth is out and innocence is gone. Darkness makes readers feel growing tension throughout the moment, but the light ends all tension between the two characters.
Writer's craft:Ibsen suggests sexual tension between Nora and Dr Rank, this is seen when Nora puts her hands on his shoulders. Nora is taking initiative flirting Dr Rank and how Dr Rank doesn’t draw back, showing that he enjoys flirting back. Another example is when Nora hits Dr Rank lightly across the ear with the stockings. This also shows Nora’s flirtatious playful action towards Dr Rank. This makes the readers feel more suspicious of their relationship and believe it’s wrong.

Writer's craft: Ibsen increases sexual tension by using objects to convey a message between the lines, such as using the light to set mood and foreshadow a theme. I think that Nora is being very flirtatious and this only happens when Rank visits her. But after Rank admits that he had feelings for her she quickly changes and perceives their relationship as a more serious one rather than a fun and flirty one.

Ibsen uses dark to describe Noras and Ranks relationship and the secrecy behind it. Light is used to show what there relationship is really like.

My opinion on Nora is very negative on this scene because it is very scandalous and in a way she is cheating on her husband. I also do not think that Nora is doing the right thing because she is toying with Dr Ranks emotions, but she does not accept the consequences. She thinks that life is just a game that she can get through by flirting and acting childish.

Stagecraft-
Ibsen uses darkness in this scene to show that it is not innocent. He uses the light or lamp as a symbol of truth. The darkness appears when Dr Rank comes in shows that what happens between them happens in the shadows so Torvald does not know.

Writers craft -
Iben suggest the sexual tension between the characters by using certain dialogue and stage directions. For example:
in the stage directions it says that [Putting her hands on his shoulders] this shows that she shows physical affection to flit with him. The dialogue about the flesh coloured leggings are very flirty. . This is shown in the quotes "Flesh-coloured! Aren't they lovely! Of course, its dark here but now, not tomorrow... No, no, no you can only look at the feet. Oh well, you might as well see a bit higher up, too." this is very flirtatious back in the day showing skin wes very flirty.

Although she had purposely acted flirtatiously with dr. rank at the beginning, when she found out dr. rank’s feeling for her rather than continuing to lead him on she tried to stop him. She realised the situation had gone too far and could no longer ask him for the favour. Nora being able to realise things had gotten out of hand shows that not only was she mature enough to resist his temptation but is also loyal enough to stay faithful to Torvald.

Stagecraft: The darkness represents the secrecy between the two whereas the light represents the truth. Ibsen uses a lamp to bring light into the scene. It shatters the moment between Nora and dr. rank as the light is the realisation of Nora, that she can no longer take advantage of him. Because of this, the tension that was once there was ended.

Writer’s craft: There wasn’t much tension to begin with however as Nora and dr. rank’s conversation goes on they begin to behave flirtatiously in their speech as well as their actions. An example of this is when Nora says “oh well I suppose you can look a little higher if you want to.” And when she playfully flicks him on the ear with a stocking.

This was done in secret without Torvalds's knowledge. However, the lamp shines a light on them right after the reveille showing the secret is out.

Nora is portrayed as a relatively more mature character although still naive. This is shown by her flirtatiousness and sexuality which is counterbalanced by her innocent playfulness and eventual rejection of Dr Rank. This creates a developmental cycle for Nora, in which at the beginning of the book she is far more childlike and simplistic whereas at the end she gains enlightenment.

Stagecraft:
Ibsen utilises the lighting to create an atmosphere of secrecy and maturity when compared to the previous familial scenes of innocence. This parallels the development of Nora's character throughout the play. The lamp symbolises truth, and more importantly the status quo, which shows Nora has not yet fully matured into an independent individual.
