In this slideshow, I wrote creative pieces in the form of vignettes and poems which were modeled of the novel House on Mango Street. There are three vignettes (My Name, Identity Event, Coming of Age) and three poems (Bio Poem, Those Who Don't, Gender Roles). In each piece, I focused on adding figurative language and using quality words to convey a certain mood.

I discuss how women are treated as less important in society and how simple names are viewed more positively than complex names . I used text evidence from both the vignette and the article to support my ideas.

What Was The Vietnam War?

I used the story 'Stop The Sun' to create this essay. This essay is about the Vietnam War, and details important aspects of the war from start to end. This connects to my story because Terry's father in the story 'Stop The Sun' was suffering from severe PTSD as a result of the Vietnam War. The sections I'm most proud of are the attention-grabber and the 1st paragraph detailing the causes of the war. I like the visual I was able to create with the attention-grabber and I think I made the beginning of the war easier for non-history people to understand.

In this essay, I argued to keep music electives because they develop young brains and improve academics, teaches commitment and appreciation for hard work, and improve behavior. Some may argue that music electives are too expensive compared to other electives. However, I disagree because music can be taught in a variety of cheap ways.
