After reading "Every Song Ever" by Ben Raitliff, I can understand why the book is greatly appreciated for its insightful comments and new view on music appreciation. I do think that it is a great way to grab the general public into reading more but I couldn't get past how boring the language is in the book. It definitely felt like I was reading a textbook, which for this class it was, but it was definitely a slog overall. The guy definitely knows what hes talking about, but he has trouble conveying his thoughts in a readable manner. Everything seems too drawn out with way too much flowery diction. Overall I think the content was good, the playlist was great, but he could have tried to make it a little more accessible.
