"The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair is a fictional story that tells us the working experience of workers and how it affects their lives. First Sinclair describes the process of Packingtown. He tells of how they treat smelly old meat. Also of how they include rats and call it specials. These accounts shoe the unright and unsanitary working conditions of the workers. Next he goes on to tell how it affects the personal lives of a few workers. Such as Jurgis who is unsatisfied with his work, so it leads him to drinking. Ona is also unsatisfied and feels as if she isn't free. yet, they still work Packingtown to support their sickly child.

"The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair recounts the experience of six workers that work in a sausage packing unit called Packingtown. First the company produces and packages spoiled meat. They use different types of pickle to hide the horrid smell of the rotten meat. Next these workers really want to leave, but they feel like they are trapped, due to their responsibilities. Therefore, a character named Jurgis turns to drinking as a way to sooth his pain, of him being sad about his job and having married his wife who is Ona who is grieving over debt and a sick son.

In the "Jungle" by Upton Sinclair, the main idea would be trying to get out of something that causes you misery and brings pain to your eyes and sickness to your stomach, but yet that thing is your only way of living. Referring to the text, factory Ona describes is lewd and cruelly disgusting and says its agonizing. Also, knowing that the meat maybe mixed with unsanitary supplements, such as the rat dung and spit is sent out to the public. While she suffers from Jurgis drinking brings her misery to the situations she is already in.
