Optimise physical and mental functioning. <br><strong>Two types</strong> - Vitamins and minerals. Only small amounts. <br><strong>Why we need minerals<br></strong>build strong bones, skin, hair, nerve function, muscle and metabolic processes (turn food into energy)<br><strong>Why we need vitamins</strong> <br>necessary for growth and function which cannot be made within out bodies. <br><strong>Two types - </strong><br><em>Water-soluble</em> - easily lost through bodily fluids and need to be replaced each day. E.g. Vitamin B-Complex and Vitamin C<br><em>Fat-soluble</em> - accumulate within the body and are not needed on a daily basis. E.g. Vitamins A,D,E and K<br><br></div>]]></description>
