There are different types of cooperations, they can be selected by their work, sector [sports, agriculture, factories...] or their structure, which can be hierarchic [there's different layers of power], democratic [1 member 1 vote, everyone has equal rights] or having a leader to keep everything up.
    There are lots of cooperatives and with a lot of people, so giving an exact value could be hard, but my guess would be around 200 million people. The good things about this is that they are working to join forces with their groups, giving a lot of production which would be way less if only 1 worked.

    The Royal London Mutual Insurance Society isn't located in London, it is in Edimburg. Founded in 1861, they became the largest UK's mutual life, pensions and investment company. Their products are simple, they work to make your life better, like all insurances. For example, if you can't go work [your leg broke and your work requires a lot of walking you can't do] they will make sure you still get enough money meanwhile you are at home.

Some years when is so hot, they can't do this because they doens't have water easelly.  There are about 75.000 women working in this cooperative. 
    Here you have a video explaining their tradition about making this type of butter. Also explains all the history of the village and all the people that live in it.
