It says that she puts on very old shoes i don't know if that means 5 years or 200 she is definitely over 87 if she looked the same for that long the reason my estimate is so high is because the title of the book is tuck everlasting in other words tuck living forever so maybe he is married with mae and told her about what made him live forever also 10 years is not often enough if you are only going to live 70 years or so mae has to be able to live a very long time if 10 years is enough.

Mae's routine is very unusual, she gets very excited about seeing the boys (who only come by every ten years!), and tells Tuck something along the lines of "There's no use dreaming, it won't change", when he says that he had a dream that they never heard about treegap, and were in heaven. She also has a music box which is "The only pretty thing she owned", and takes it everywhere with her, it is described as having roses, and lilies of the valley. She seems to have very little clothes, as Tuck knows what she is wearing just by ear. She has no need for a mirror, because she has her face memorized, she is also wearing a shawl, in the warmest time of the year. Also she and Tuck haven't aged in eighty seven years! This probably has something to do with the secret spring in the woods, and the fact that the title is called Tuck Everlasting.

Mae's appearance seems to be very old and seems to be from the 1800s for example in the text the author describes Mae's dress being a rusted brown, her routine is kind of explained when she tells her husband she is going to see her grandchildren she said" I wonder if they will remember me, it has been ten years". The author also describes Mae putting on old shoes that were worn out so much they could fall apart anytime now. Even explaining that she has looked the same way for 87 years.

Well, to begin with, she dresses the same way everyday with the same exact clothes. She was also wearing a LOT of clothes for the middle of summer. She also seems extremely excited to see her kids and yet she only saw them once every 10 years. Plus the appearances of Mae, Tuck, and her kids hadn't changed in 85 years. How old is Mae and Tuck? Why didn't their appearances change? Another thing was she brought her music box with her everywhere, why is it so special to her? Also, she only went down to the village at sunrise because she didn't want anyone recognizing her, but why? Did she do something wrong in that town, and why does she play her music every time she gets there? This might have something to do with the title "Tuck Everlasting", however if they are living forever the real question is how?

I find it quite weird that she only sees her kids every 10 years and she says she has looked the same for 87 years implying she is over 87. She also wears the same clothes everyday and how she has not changed for 87 years making me think she is quite old.Why is he music box so important? Will it have to do anything to do with the story later? It is also quite peculiar how she has her whole face memorized. What won't change? Why is she wearing warm clothes during the summer.

So to start off, according to the text Mae wears three petticoats, a rusty brown skirt, and an old cotton jacket with a knitted shawl pinned across her bosom. Those are things these days we don't wear. So I am thinking this takes place in either the early 1900's or late 1800's. But besides from that Mae has been wearing the same clothes every day that according to the text, her husband Tuck got used to the sound of her getting dressed! Also she has no want of change for 87 years! Which is very unusual. Also I find it quite weird that she is a great potato of a woman. I have never heard that phrase so it is another clue that this takes place in the late 1800's or early 1900's. But before I get to what I thought I was the weirdest and got me thinking she only sees her sons every ten years. Why? But what got me thinking the most was that she looked the same for 87 years!! So it could be tied into the anticipatory guide about living forever also tieing into the title "Tuck Everlasting". Another thing that got me wondering was why, according to the text, Tuck told Mae "You better not go there"(treegap) I wonder why.

What is unusual about Mae's routine is she only sees her two sons every 10 years, even when her husband, Tuck did not really care about seeing the boys. Mae owns a mirror but doesn't care to use it.[I find that quite odd] Her appearance is unusual because she has had the same look for 87 years, her old clothes and a messy bun in her silver hair. [although her hair has probably not been silver for all of the 87 years]

What I find weird in Mae's appearance is that she dresses quite hot for the middle of summer evidence of this is when she wore a scarf in the middle of summer. She also always wears the same thing every time,since Tuck recognized what she was wearing, this makes me believe that she doesn't go out much and that she doesn't have lots of options. She also says that her sons and Tuck look the same in all 87 years of her life does this mean they don't age? She also some how learned how to memorize how to do a bun, showing she wears this all the time, possibly every time?

Mae has been wearing the same stuff for 87 years (as said in the book)and that means that she doesn't have pick out clothes everyday because she already has the clothes she wants to wear in her mind and doesn't have to spend time figure it out and that means she doesn't spend as much time getting ready. she only sees her kids every 10 years. She gets excited whenever the elf music played because it plays every ten years and she likes it and she takes tuck because tuck doesn't like to go and has attitude but then is happy she comes like whenever me and my parents go to a party I groan but go but then I don't wanna leave and I wanna stay but then they always say the same thing "but you didn't wanna come before"  But Mae doesn't go to places and her style is different than people these days and the season don't affect her cloth style.

Mae's appearance strikes me as unusual because, she describes herself as looking the same way for 87 years. This mean 1 of 2 things she is over 87 and has lived longer than normal or she was born looking like an old lady, personally I think it's the first option but you never know. With her saying she has looked the small way for 87 years imply she wears the same clothes everyday? Also, while on the topic of what she is wearing, why is she wearing 5 layers of clothes in the middle of summer? Maybe, it's because she wants to hide her physical appearance in case anyone was roaming the roads. Secondly, what is with only seeing your kids every 10 years, and being so discreet about it? It seems like they have been doing this for whole since Tuck just blows it off like it's normal.

It sounds as if Mae's routine is the same every day and she never makes changes/adds things to her routine.
If Mae's appearance stayed the same for all 87 years it could be two things she never ages, or she knows witchcraft.

Mae's appearance and routine are very different for many reasons. For that, she sees her sons every ten years this is a very long time. you would only be able to see your kids like 7 times in a normal lifetime. This makes me think that her life or lifetime is much different than many other people's lifetimes.
It is also interesting how she looked the same for 87 years.

Mae has an appearance with the way she dresses, and the way she looks. Mae only gets to see her sons every 10 years. I wonder how that makes her feel? Does she ever wish se can see her sons every single day? Or does she get bored of seeing them, even when she's with them.

Mae is a very interesting person. She lives in a place where she seems to be forced to be perfect. Does she seem like she enjoys this pressure? At all?

Mae's routine is clearly the same all the time, this is shown by her husband knowing what she was putting on without seeing her. The book also states that she has looked the exact same for 87 years. She has a very unique appearance. For example, she carries a music box everywhere she goes. She also had many layers of clothing in the summer when she is only going to meet her sons. She sees her sons every ten years, that's part of her routine. Her husband clearly knows his wife's routine very well now.

What is unusual about Mae's routine is that she has been doing things for 87 years, to where she doesn't need to look at herself through a mirror, and also doesn't need to think about what to wear since she already has it in her mind. What's unique about her appearance is that she has the same traits as a young woman, but is over 87 years old, which is quite interesting because normally your hair starts to fade in color way before then, but Mae is special since she still looks like a 20-year-old. Along with that, Mae only sees her son every 10 years, which is strange because normally you spend more time with children throughout the years of your life, even if you move somewhere else in the world. Mae may have the same traits as a young woman, but also at the same time has kind of changed a bit in appearance just because she dosn't look at herself in a mirror anymore.

When the mysterious man shows up and starts talking to Winnie I thought that maybe that man is one of Mae's sons. Some evidence to back that up is that we know that her sons are coming back, and when they start hearing the music box he did not seem to be that bothered about it as much as Winnie and her grandmother. To add on, in chapter two they state that Mae never leaves the house without her music box. Another thought I have is that why is Winnie being cooped up inside her home like bird in cage? For example in the book it states that she is not allowed to go anywhere pass the yard and that she has never left the house before alone.

First of all, it is weird that she is wearing so many layers of clothes in the summer. There are two possible reasons for this. One is that maybe it is cold in the wood. The reason that I think is that she wants to hide her appearance. The weirdest thing though is that she has looked the same for 87 years, probably because she is immortal. When it comes to her routine, it sounds like she never leaves the wood because she was careful about going into Treegap, and Tuck said she shouldn't go at all. The last weird thing about her routine is that she only sees her children once every ten year. My only possible explanation for that is that since it seems like the whole Tuck family is immortal, ten years seems like no time at all.

Mae has a much faster routine than Tuck does. Mae is much faster than Tuck in the very first part of chapter 2. Mae immediately gets up from bed while Tuck many times tries to go back to sleep. Mae also says her routine has been this way for 87 years and that is a very very long time to do the exact same thing every day. Hmmmmmmmmm

I find that her appearance is weird because she wears hot clothes for summer and how she has been wearing those clothes for years. I also think she drank from the "spring" because she lives long, she also has a very strange routine where she brings her music box wherever she goes and only sees her sons every 10 years. Her husband has a good dream once in a while that they are in heaven sometimes, leading me to believe that they can NEVER EVER die, which is kinda depressing if you ask me.

What's so weird is that Mae has had the same appearance for 87 years which is might not be so strange especially because this is a fantasy book. Another thing is that Mae goes everywhere with her music box as if it has to be with her at all time even though tuck doesn't approve of this. Another thing that is unique about Mae is that she has been doing her hair without a mirror which probably means she so used to it that she been doing it for decades. Another thing is that she is excited about her sons coming only every decade which is strange when all of them have had the same appearance for 87 years which I just don't get why they don't meet more often. Maybe it's some sort of curse or some sort of magical protection or maybe ever Tuck as he seems to not approve of Mae going to meet their sons.

Mae's appearance definitely is a little bit different than an average mom's clothing choices. But one of the things that really stands out is the way she dresses and how much clothing she puts on. She goes through multiple layers of clothing during the summer.
She has also been getting dressed like this for the past 87 years so I guess it is not surprising when Tuck can tell what she is wearing. To add to her dressing like this for the past 87 years, she has developed a routine. Her routine consists of three petticoats, a rusty brown skirt, an old cotton jacket, and a knitted shawl with a metal broach. In my opinion, that is way too much for an everyday outfit but that just adds to her look even younger.

That means that most of her things she has are old. When Mae wakes up Tuck is still asleep and that day is the day they see their kids. That is weird because they see their kids once every 10 years. What can also help figure out why the title is Tuck everlasting is that the kids and Tuck and Mae all look the same as they did 87 years ago. Mae has a mirror in her room, but doesn't care about her appearance anymore and has a very easy time doing her hair because she's been doing it for so long. Tuck who is half awake can tell what Mae is wearing because she has never changed her style in 87 years and is quit noticeable in the text

What is weird about Mae's appearance is that every time she changes her clothes, she wears the very same things. I know this because Tuck always says to Mae when she wears a shawl, " You don't need that shawl in the middle of the summer.", which proves that she wears that shawl so much that her husband recognizes her wearing the shawl even though he can't see her wearing it. Also, in the context, it makes it clear that Mae does not have a lot of options Ion what to wear. It is also strange that Mae wears so many layers of clothes even in the summer. all of the members of the Tuck family have looked the same for 87 years. Why do they look that way? Is it a type of curse or disease? Plus, Why does Mae carry a music box everywhere she goes? Does it resemble something?

What to me was somewhat unusual about Mae was the fact that she only sees her sons, Miles and Jesse every 10 years. Another thing that is unusual to me how she wears the exact same thing for 87 years or somewhat long because her husband knows what she wears. I find it weird that she wouldn't have the ability to see her son's more often. I also find it different that Mae just doesn't have a variety of outfits for maybe the whole 87 years but that she doesn't change based on the weather. I find it odd that not only have her husband and her wore the same thing for 87 years but even hers son's have.

Mae has looked the same for 87 years and she probably wore the same thing too. As Tuck hinted at, he knew what she wore every day. The book says her routine is "..pulled on a pair of short leather boots so thin and soft with age it was a wonder they held together. Then she stood and took from the washstand beside the bed a little square-shaped object, a music box painted with roses and lilies of the valley. It was the one pretty thing she owned and she never went anywhere without it." When she talked to Tuck she also mentions people not being able to recognize her and I think this is why she goes every 10 years; if she went sooner people would recognize her and would wonder and ask her how and why she looks the same every time she comes and visits. She also doesn't look in the mirror, probably because she's looked the same for 87 years and knows what she looks like. I think it's also weird with how many layers she puts on. As Tuck says and we get obvious hints) it's summer and she doesn't need so many layers. This leaves me wondering why she dresses with so many layers and another thing in the book, why Tuck doesn't go see his sons with Mae.

Mae has a rusty brown skirt with a enormous pocket which I don't know if its a regular pocket or one that is as big as her pants. Plus she's only gone to pick up the boys for at most 8 times (maybe 9) but I have this theory that the mysterious stranger was looking for her as tuck said that she shouldn't go in case someone knows her like the stranger. I also think that she only finds joy in her son's, Miles and Jesse as I had this felling that life is blah for her as she could do her hair without a mirror witch brings me to the aspect that her family has looked the same for 87 years witch if she had her last son at 20 she at least is 107 years and still goes to a far town by herself.

Mae's routine is simple, which makes it strange. She does it with precision, she does it effortless. Mae know's each bit of her routine. Also her routine of every ten years. On one day every ten years she sees her sons, this fact was so strange to many readers. Why every ten years? Family is seen as important in many peoples eyes, so every ten years seems like too little. To have a routine of very little family time is so strange, and as well as that being strange, Mae's appearance is much more abnormal. Mae has a very rustic look, her outfits seem outdated, her clothing is very old. Her hair is one of the key factors, she has a silvery gray hair color, usually this is the case of someone being old, not nessasarily a fashion statement.

And has she been dressing this way for 87 years does she wear more clothes in the winter on top of all of that? and if she has looked the same way for 87 years does that mean she has always had gray hair or does that change about her. Does she bring the music box so her sons know where she is? or is it just an old childhood item. And why see her kids every 10 years why not lie together.
