One of my relative was as I described, an overall awesome person, we shared many life stories and we also had lots of fun together playing games, making jokes. But was that always the case for all relatives? 

To say that all relatives will be as friendly and helpful were simply not true. All relatives are humans too(of course they are), and humans are a species full of diversity. With that being said, there is not one, but many types of relatives, each type different in intimacy and behaviour.

1. The Relative You Don’t Talk To But Always See. Whenever there is a celebration or event where family members are invited, there would be at least one relative that you would greet but never actually talk to or hang out with. That relative never makes an attempt to converse with you and vice versa. The both of you sort of avoid each other unintentionally and never end up talking. At the end of the day, you would only talk to them to greet them “Hello.” or “Good Bye.”. For example, that introverted cousin, that weird aunt or the uncle that has nothing to say.

2. The Relative Connected by Marriage. She or he married into the family. They married your uncle or aunt and are now related to you. They could be the coolest aunt/uncle to hang out with or you could just hate their guts and question why your aunt/uncle married them. Even though they aren’t blood related, if they are fun and you guys get along well, you would feel great for your aunt or uncle for marrying them. For example, the uncle-in-law that jokes around every time he visits or the aunt-in-law that always brings over cookies.

3. The Crazy One. There is that one relative that always does cool and amazing stuff, like rock climbing or scuba-diving or a cross country road trip. He or she would always interest you with stories from their trips or events that occurred during their adventures. He or she may ask you to do crazy stuff as well, like trying smoking or alcohol. For example, the uncle that is a photographer that goes around the world taking pictures, the aunt that likes sky-diving or that grandparent that wants to feel young and goes traveling.

4. The Best Friend. This is the cousin we're the closest to. Someone who's your age, you have either lived overseas or grown up together. But you're so close that nobody that seperate you. They know all our embarrassing stories. We've jumped in the pool with them, enjoyed BBQ nights and sleepovers. They could be far, or close cousins. Or could be that cool young aunt, who knows all our stories and also helps us sneak out of the house.

5. The Annoying One. It could be the Aunt /uncle, who always push you to get married and always have an eye on you. They always stick to your ass. Or this other wannabe 14 year old who wants to be with you all the time and sees you as a inspiration. They ask you where did you buy the top from or when did you have your first kiss.

6. The Show Off One. It’s the one who brag about every small detail or incident in their life and exaggerate it until everyone gets annoyed. They brag about their children's grades or their recent trip or something expensive they purchase. They are usually your mother's sisters, or the the uncle with a genius son.

After reading the list of relatives, sure you can't help but think, 

"Wow, there's really more than just one type of relative! Cool!" 

There's actually a lot more variety of relatives to the ones in the list, but that's not the point. Relatives are still relatives, doesn't matter by blood or marriage, you should always care for them in the best way you can. And be that relative that everyone loves.

There are different kinds of parents. Every parent has his special way of dealing with children and raising them. These different ways of how to bring up kids can be summarised into four main groups and can be listed from authoritarian to permissive; ranging from strict, competitive, average to cool.

1. Authoritarian parents or what we call “strict” parents, enforce strict rules and high expectation on children; because of this, they’re likely to stop their kids from socialising with their friends outside of school. This is different from “caring” parents who are also very likely to stop their kids from going out, but the reason behind it is because they’re worried for their children’s safety. Personally, I don’t have strict parents but a friend of mine does. Her parents want their only child to be perfect, thus having strict rules which includes early curfew and almost never being able to hang out with friends after school. This is all due to the fact that her parents have a high expectation for her academically and they believe this is the way to achieve that.

2. A democratic parent is the best and the most competitive parent; he/she helps the kids experience new things and be responsible, prepares them to be independent in the future. For example, The famous American actor Will Smith; in a tv show he said that he lets Jaden Smith(his son) think instead of listen to his lame orders.

3. Permissive parents are parents who are willingly giving freedom to their children. Setting very minimal boundaries and ground rules or not setting any at all, unlike strict parents who are constantly limiting their children’s freedom. This parenting style is characterized by low demands with very high responsiveness. Although they may not be very controlling and constantly hovering over their children, they still tend to be very loving parents.  This type of parents are the ones most likely to have a natural bond with their children and have a close relationship as their children would be less afraid to be who they truly are in front of their parents. Children who were raised by permissive parents will most likely turn out to be less sneaky and more open with their parents. Some may also turn out to be very spoilt as they were never disciplined by their parents growing up. 

4. Average parents: these are the parents who do what most of the other parents do. For example providing their child with 3 meals per days and sending them to school. Average parents are slightly different compare to the strict and cool parents. Average parents will push their children then pull back to make sure that they are not to too strict. They will also make sure that their children will not take full control of their life and provide guidelines to their child. 

Mentioned are the varieties of classmates we have all came across in life.

In life, you will meet a lot of people with different and interesting characteristics. Sometimes we are forced to get along with, but that is life. And in the end, they help you to create memories.
