When I speak of tone I am referring to the approach the artist has and the emotion they intended. If an artist is singing low and slow this is typically associated with the emotion of sadness. This sad tone can change the meaning of a song because it affects the listeners emotional reaction to the piece. When I speak of depth I am referring to the affects on the vocals/musical instruments that make the music appear to be at a different distance from our ears. Having control over what sound seems to be closer allows an artist to pick what musical element he/she wants to be the most known.
Diverse textures of music are the different tones and amounts of depth an artist has to choose from in order to express the art as they wish. When I choose to write a song I have a certain texture in mind that matches the emotion of the piece. Sometimes, when I finish a song I will try different textures on the tune to see what makes the song one, more appealing and two, express my intended emotion.
