Cochlear Implants should be a free choice; there are many people who embrace deaf/hearing impaired culture as their own, but both children and adults should have the option to opt into a cochlear implant at any time they would like.

I think that cochlear implants are probably the best practice for children with hearing impairments. While I understand the idea that this practice could remove children from Deaf Culture. However, the only thing preventing hearing-restored children from being involved in Deaf Culture would be its members.
From a purely utilitarian perspective, cochlear implants give children additional senses to protect themselves. In a rapidly growing urban world, the ability to hear an oncoming car increases chances for survival.

Honestly, I'm not really sure how I feel about cochlear implants. It really depends on the parents and their children and what they believe is the best for their children.

Obviously, I feel like the choice should remain in the family, and that the parents should have the final say. Cochlear implants should be available as an option to anyone and whether they chose to use that option or not should be a personal decision. Obviously, some argue that a young child like a toddler could not make the decision on their own, and essentially opt out of being a part of the Deaf community, but as with many other important and life-altering decisions, parents ultimately have the right to do what they feel is best for the child they brought into this world, we shouldn't stand in their way.

I feel that the decision to receive cochlear implants should be a choice that the family makes if the child is small. Maybe the parents would want to wait until the child is older to make that decision for themselves. It's a really hard choice, because on one hand, cochlear implants would make it so the child could hear, but also partially remove them from deaf culture.

I think the decision to get cochlear implants is dependent on the situation. I think if parents decide to get cochlear implants for their child, it is only helping the child to hear. This does not mean he/she should be excluded from the deaf community. However, it is also a perfectly reasonable decision to not want to get cochlear implants because being deaf is apart of their identity.
