(triangles, rectangles, etc.) Then I would tell the person to the formula (b times h) After that I would tell the person to find the sum  of all the areas. That is how I would find the area of a complex figure. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I would tell them to first magically decompose the amazing figure into smaller shapes that you are familiar with (and they should be magical) and then you will need to do the regular formula (for the decomposed shapes)  then you will add together what you got and.... ALAKAZAM you have the answer!!!!!!! Then you will have to run around on rainbows with your magical friends the unitato and talking M&amp;Ms that you can't eat they don't taste good </p><p>(GOOGLE= ALWAYS THERE 4 YOU)-abby</p>]]></description>

But if i knew them i would first say  to decompose the shape into shapes they know then find the base and height of each decomposed shape.
