They want to create an excellent brand reputation so it keeps customers coming back.
Examples of PR is- Interviews, press releases and celebrity endorsements.

Marketing- Marketing is what helps a company sell a product or service.

PR
Compared to advertising and marketing, PR is earned, focusing primarily on building publicity and developing brand awareness, reputation and persona. This can be achieved through numerous ways including;

. Media relations
. Reputation management
. Strategic partnerships
. Events
. Celebrity procurement
. Influencer programs
. Digital and social media

Put simply, PR aims to establish and sustain good will and understanding between a particular organisation and its publics (Chartered Institute of Public Relations, 2016).

It is also important to recognise that PR is equally as important in influencing consumer behaviour as it is with creating buzz (Egan, 2015).

Advertising

Unlike PR, Advertising is significantly easier to manage and companies typically have complete creative control. For example, brand messages can be communicated through push media such as billboards where consumers are passive recipients. Alternatively, messages could also be communicated through inbound/pull media such as personalised web-pages where consumers are proactive. This is an option whereas in PR consumers are almost always have a role in the communication process.

Marketing

Marketing is much broader than advertising, PR and selling. It is the whole business seen from the customer’s point of view and focuses on creating and capturing customer value via satisfying exchange relationships (Kotler et al, 2013). Essentially, marketing focuses on persuasion, coming under multiple forms, integrating all marketing activities and creating profits through customer satisfaction and loyalty.

References

Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

Marketing is an umbrella term which can be used when refering to both advertising and public relations (PR). The term marketing itself refers to the resources used and the efforts that are required inorder to sell a company's product or service. It is helpful for the business to have a marketing plan as it will help to sell, communicate and deliver either the product or service that the company specialises in. As it is created from research marketing plans help to accurately identify both potential forms of communication media an that will help to reach the potential target audience.

Advertising is something which is bought. As it is bought by the company it is also uder their complete control, this means they are able to dictate the message, colour and size of the advert. the advert itself can take many forms such as radio spots, billboards, flyers, commercials and several others. The chosen media for a specific advertising campaign is selected based on the results from the market research as it selected as being seen as the most effective way to reach the target audiences. However it is important to remember that the duration of the advertising campaign depends on the company's financial resources which are normally based upon the advertising budget.

Public Relations is the area of the company which is associated driving the business forward in terms of brand awareness, building the story of the brand and the brands reputation. However, the core purpose of PR is to create a trusting relationship between both the brand and its customers. The tactics of PR include areas such as crisis management, public affairs, press releases and publicity. A small company that has a low advertising budget may use PR inorder to communicate the brand name and ultimately establish the image of the brand.

Refrences
http://smallbusiness.chron.com

Each of these various forms can be seen as similar as they all use the same types of mass media to send the message that they want. However, each section has a distinctive difference. Advertising media is a space that is brought. You can control the time it is shown and where it is. whereas in PR there's less of control as it about sustain a good image and creating content that will create a buzz in positive way. It is also used to handle any threat to a brand/ companies image.

Marketing involves the development of a product or service to fit a consumers need, as well as making them aware of that need ans how to solve their problem. Commonly used is the marketing mix, a.k.a the 4 P's Product, price, place, and promotion.

Unlike marketing, advertising instead focuses more on the sales of products and less on the aspect of problem solving. Adverts are often created in order to persuade a customer to buy a product/service, or to raise awareness for a cause or idea such as giving to charity. Types of adverts include, billboards and TV adverts.

PR follows a different path as it focuses instead on the consumer/brand relationship, they aim to maintain a positive one for an overall positive brand image. This is achieved through positive media exposure and brand association. Bad news often travels a lot faster in media than good news, therefore companies have to maintain a good image in order to survive.

References: Marketing - http://www.cim.co.uk/more/get-into-marketing/
Advertising/Marketing/PR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zMRt6qCBZg (Neves, J. 2014) PR vs Marketing vs Advertising

Both Advertising and Public Relations (PR) fall under the same category as they both have similar attributes, they both involve the use of media. Although they do have differences also, for instance, advertising is paid for and PR is "earned media".
Marketing then involves the actual process and those resources that help a company to sell its products.
Marketing: using the example of a company deciding to expand, an email could be sent out to consumers including a discount on the services to make them want to try it out.
Marketing uses the marketing mix to communicate and deliver products to a target audience. This could also be done through events, social media and other types of promotions.
Advertising: using the example of a company's expansion ideas, advertising could be used to promote the changes of the company. For instance, they could purchase a full page advertisement in a magazine, which they would also have full control over where it goes, what it looks like and when it can be published. Advertisement can also be seen/heard through TV commercials, radio spots & print ads.
Public Relations: with its purpose to build relationships between both brands and customers, again, using the example of a company expanding, the company would share the designs with press to enable their ideas to be spread further, and in hope that positive stories are created about their products/services.

Reference: Julianna Neves (2014) PR vs Marketing vs advertising.[online].
