This Padlet has largely been developed with English for Academic Purposes practitioners, managers and researchers in mind, but may also be useful for others working in related areas. It aims to serve as a useful resource bank for anyone wishing to develop EAP (and related) provision for people with refugee backgrounds, with a view to facilitating their journey into HE.

Please feel free to add to this Padlet if you have resources/links on this topic which might help others who are working in this area. Contributions are set to 'anonymous', but you are free to add your name to any posts/comments if you wish to. Thanks very much, and we hope you find this Padlet useful :)

In return, RefuAid can cover travel costs, some stationery costs, exam fees (where exams are external, such as IELTS and OET) and can also provide wrap-around move-on case worker support for students.

Password English Language Testing is an organisation which develops quality English Language proficiency tests which tend to be used for admission to programmes of study (including pre-sessional programmes and university degree programmes) at 490+ partner organisations over 120+ countries. Over the past few years, they have kindly donated free test codes to organisations who need to assess the language proficiency of incoming refugee-background students. This removes an important barrier which many RBS face when wishing to enter HE - the need to have evidence of language level, which can often be financially prohibitive for those on very low incomes

This is a portal for sharing and searching for study opportunities to support people with backgrounds of forced displacement in the UK to access HE.

The most effective way to search for ‘pathway to Higher Education’ English language provision on this portal is, in the search filters, for ‘level of study’ select ‘pre-university’, and for ‘type of opportunity’ select ‘English language course’ and ‘preparation for university’. This should bring up all opportunities with an English language learning element (whether fully or partly).
