The Red scare created fear and made matters worse. It led to strikes. The strikes were largely a result of terrible working conditions. Industrial workers were often immigrants. In 1921 the Republicans won the election and Warren Harding became President. That year immigration was limited to 357, 000 people.

The Sacco & Vanzetti case is an example of the widespread of intolerance within American as the Red Scare was on top of everyones list as immigrants were causing more problems for American as they weren't true Anglo Saxons.
