For my first submission, I will be photographing a Korean superstition that says writing someone's name with red ink means you are bringing death upon them. I'm planning on making my photo pretty dark. I am thinking of using a plain piece of paper and a red ink pen (the pen may be a fancy pen), to write a name (in Korean or English, I'll see) on the paper. I am also thinking of using either leftover ink or red paint to put droplets of red on the paper around the name. For my second submission, I will be photographing a more commonly known superstition about coins. More specifically, I will be photographing a superstition about pennies that says picking up a penny is good luck or will lead to wealth. My vision for this photo is that I will shoot close to the surface/ground where there will be a trail of pennies leading to a pile of money. My second submission will be a photograph of a superstition about keys. This superstition states that leaving keys behind on the dining table or on the corner of a table means bad luck or death. I am planning on photographing this superstition using several keys. I want to take my photo in a dark environment with the keys on the edge/corner of a table. I am also planning on having a door in the background in order to represent the idea of leaving without keys. For this photo, I am planning on photographing a trail of salt spilled from a salt shaker. I am planning on taking the photos from ground level where the spilled salt leads to the knocked over salt shaker. For my sixth submission, I am going to photograph a superstition about flowers. It states that gifting or giving yellow flowers to someone will cause them to leave you. In order to photograph this, I want to have one person holding out flowers (the photo will be taken from the point of view of the person giving the flowers) towards someone who has their back turned away or is walking away. For my eighth submission, I am going to photograph a superstition that says stepping on a crack on the ground brings out the spirits and ghosts from underground. For this one, I am planning on having a model walking away from the camera. I plan on not having any faces showing in my photographs. I will have the person walking over a long crack on the street/pavement and I will have the crack as a leading line up to my model. I will try photographing form different angles that won't show the face of my model. For my seventh submission, I am going to photograph a superstition that says walking backwards is showing the devil which way you are going or bad luck. For this submission, I am planning on photographing a person walking backwards, but in order to show the process of walking backwards more clearly, I am thinking of doing a triptych or more. I could use photoshop or another model to show the devil following the person from photo to photo. I'd photograph this outside and avoid a busy background. I am thinking of taking a side profile photo, but not show the top half of the subject.

For my tenth submission, I am planning on photographing a superstition about chopsticks. Originating from Asia, there is a superstition that states that sticking one's chopstick straight into their bowl of rice leads to bad luck or even death. My vision for this photo, is to have a dark photo with a bowl of rice (round visible rice) with a pair of chopsticks sticking straight into it vertically. I will cast a shadow onto my background of the chopsticks and photoshop an additional horizontal line on the shadow to form a cross. For my eleventh submission, I want to photograph a superstition about scissors. This superstition says that leaving scissors open or opening scissors without cutting anything in particular can lead to bad luck. I am planning on photographing either a bunch of open scissors left open laying on top of each other on a black background or using a model. If I were to use a model, I'd had the person holding two open scissors year their face and I'd shoot through them or have open scissors frame my picture. For my twelfth submission, I am planning on photographing a superstition about sitting at a corner of a table. This superstition claims that if one sits at a corner of a table, the person will face bad luck or death. I have two ideas for this submission. I'd have a model for this photograph, but I want to try two different angles. One would be on top of the table. I'd take a parallel picture with my model laying head down on the corner of a table. The other idea would be to photograph my model in the same pose, but from below to create a looking up kind of view. For my thirteenth submission, I will be photographing a superstition about mirrors. It is said that mirrors are the path to one's soul and that looking into a mirror is believed to be a way for your soul to be stolen. To photograph this, I am planning on depending on photoshop quite a bit. I'd photograph a model looking into a mirror, the same model with their head down, and the same model looking through the mirror with an evil smile. For my fourteenth submission, I am planning on photographing a superstition about knives. Specifically, this superstition says that if you drop a knife and lands stuck in the ground, it will lead to bad luck. I am planning on photographing this outdoors in a wooded area with dirt. I will be photographing from a lower angle looking up to have the main focus be on the knife stuck on the ground leading up to the person who dropped it. I will be using a kitchen knife (large one) to make it look as threatening as possible. For my fifteenth submission, I am going to photograph a superstition about butterflies. There is a Korean superstition about butterflies that says that if someone touches a butterfly or moth and then their eyes, they will go blind. In order to photograph this superstition, I am planning on having a closeup headshot of my model and photoshopping a butterfly on their eye.
