About a year and a half ago I started to feel a dull but sharp pain in my ankle when doing certain movements/activities. I thought it was jus basic tendentious because once I warmed up, the pain went away. Over the next 6 months the pain persisted and not only that, it got worse and ultimately one day at football practice, I felt a snap in my ankle. Come to find out, I had a stress fracture brewing in my navicular bone. This was due to an overuse and poor biomechanics in my ankle as I would move in a way that put lots of stress on that area of my foot/ankle. After resting for about 5 weeks I attempted to return to activity, but I was forced into going 100% with no build up. This only made the pain worse and made the recovery process take much longer. As the pain persisted I tried to take time off but was once again pressured by coaches to return. Because I never took time to fully recover, I was left with pre arthritic like symptoms that I still feel to this day. However, it wasn't all bad as this injury helped me learn a lot about how to body moves and how to prevent these types of injuries.
