Since that I've overhauled our CS program at TDHS and also had the chance to help mentor 6 other teachers and programs in central Oregon to get their CS program started.  I was chosen to represent the region as a teacher with ODE's effort to create CS standards for K-12.  As Oregon continues to hopefully get those standards and requirements set, I would love to continue to be a voice to help bring some sanity to the process as part of the OCSTA board.]]> 2023-03-29 22:14:52 UTC https://padlet.com/SPHSPHSPH/OCSTAElectionsnominations2023/wish/2537372534 SPHSPHSPH https://padlet.com/SPHSPHSPH/OCSTAElectionsnominations2023/wish/2537373465 My Name is Rick Bush and I’ve been the Technology Teacher at Stoller Middle School in the Beaverton School District for 6 years.  Before that I was the technology teacher at Raleigh Hills K-8 where I taught middle school technology lessons and helped elementary teachers develop units integrating computer science with core curricular areas.  I’ve worked on teams within the district to develop standards for the middle school technology course that are aligned with nationally adopted standards.  I’m also the Co-host of the Portland Scratch Ed meetup.My focus of the past few years has been developing lessons and units that engage students in using computer science and computational thinking to solve interesting and engaging problems.  I feel strongly that we need to work towards figuring out ways to engage students of _all backgrounds_ in computer science and computational thinking at younger ages so that we can positively affect the students who choose to pursue careers in computer science.
