1. Your name, matric number, date
Cheah Chooi San
A171637
5/7/2021-11/7/2021

2. Your progress so far
Prof Hafiza who is our supervisor held a virtual laboratory tour for me and my friend in the third week of my elective posting. Before that, Pn Azrena, who is a science officer introduced us to the different types of blood tests done in the haematological lab. Then, Prof Hafiza explained to us about the workflow process in the lab while showing us how each of the equipment works. There is a total of six rooms in the haematological lab which are dedicated for different kinds of tests including haematological analysis (full blood count and peripheral blood film), coagulation analysis, microscopy lab, haemoglobin analysis lab (electrophoresis), bone marrow aspirate lab, flow cytometer analysis and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) screening bench. Blood samples collected from the patients will usually be sent to the sample reception counter by the medical assistant. Next, the lab officers will sort out the samples and key in patient details into the electronic system before pasting the barcode onto the particular sample tube. Then, the blood samples will be stained and analysed by the machines. On the next day, my friend and I were lucky to be able to join an online lecture on blood bank together with other students from the health science faculty. We were taught about the antibody screening process and the various blood products stored in the blood bank in our hospital. I also did some self-learning on the microscope structures and functions while preparing the presentation slides.

3. Your feelings and thoughts
I was grateful and happy that our supervisor and other lab officers were willing to sacrifice their time amid their busy work to conduct a lab tour for us although it was virtually held. I was surprised to know that there was many advanced equipment in a seemingly small lab.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
I will always discuss my opinion with my superior and colleagues before making any decision to ensure more efficient and effective patient management. I also have learnt to weigh the pros and cons before making any decision to ensure that it is the best choice.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
I did a timetable on my laptop and adhered to it during the four weeks of my elective posting. To be honest, it was quite challenging as I had an upcoming OSCE exam during that time. Thus, I will make sure myself to allocate several hours everyday for the revision. At the same time, I prepared the presentation slides earlier with my friend so that we could focus on our exam when it was around the corner. My friend and I felt extremely grateful to our supervisor as she adjusted the schedule of the online sessions after knowing our upcoming exam.

8. Your plan for next week (Week 4)
Learn more about haemoglobin analysis and conduct a presentation to our supervisor.

Moreover, my supervisor also explained each of the machines clearly such as the Machine Sysmex XN3000 and Machine Sysmex SP-10. I am very grateful to have this session as even thought I cannot do any hand-on activity, at least I can have some insights about the Haematological Laboratory.During this week, there is a lot of lectures given by our lecturers. One of topic is blood bank.I learn about types of blood products and important of ABO incompatibility. One of the interesting topic is microscopy structure and peripheral blood film.I know that microscopy structure divided into 4 parts including supporting system, illumination system, magnification system and adjustment system.Last but not least, Puan Farisah presented the topic-Basic Haematology which includes components of human blood and process of haematopoiesis.

3.Your feelings and thoughts
Since I exposed more theory before, this virtual tour really gave me a good insights for Haematological Laboratory.I feel happy that I got the chance to learn more and hope that after covid-19 pandemic I can go to the Laboratory again.

4.How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
During this posting, I learn decision making from my supervisor ,lecturers and friends.Supervisor always teach me to do tests that are only necessary for the patients and do not waste money.Meanwhile, I will always discuss each of the cases with my friend before I decide which tests I need to order to get the specific diagnosis of the patient.

5.How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
Fortunately, my supervisor organised and arranged all the lectures before I start this elective posting so that I can arrange my time as well. This is because during that time I was having OSCE exams it was quite difficult for me to focus on this two.Luckily my supervisor was able to change the time for us.I also got make a reminder in my laptop so that I organise my jobs nicely and will not miss any of them.

8.Your plan for next week (week 4)
Morphological slides session and preparation for presentation.

Designing Main Characters for A Pixel Game

    WEEK 3:

Assalamualaikum & hi everyone!
You are entering 3rd week of your EP journey! Good job on your progress so far!
Please share your experience with your friends. You can write, upload lots of pictures & videos. Do comment and give a like on your friends’ posts too =)

1. Your name, matric number, date

Neevehtha A/P Nyanajothi
A172220
1/8/2021-7/8/2021

2. Your progress so far

This week, I had lectures on designing main characters in a game. I was thought a lot about the importance of a storyline and the characteristics needed to make a character of a game stand out. In the lectures, the instructors emphasized the importance of planning the black, white, and greys of our characters and properly incorporating color accents in pixel artwork. After watching the lectures, I planned out the characters I wanted to design and the color scheme for my characters. I made sure the colors brought out the storyline I had planned for the game beforehand. Since I enjoyed the movie Pirate of the Caribbean a lot, the characters I had in mind to design revolved around the movie. The main character for my game would be Jack Sparrow and the villains were skeleton pirates and sharks jumping out of the sea. I looked at different pixel art on the internet and took some inspiration from them.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

This week, I felt very overwhelmed and worried because, for the last two weeks, the artwork I created was fully guided by the instructors but since I have learned most of the basic concepts I had to come up with a storyline, the main character, a setting and villains in the game by myself. I had many ideas but putting them down as pixel artwork was difficult. I tried out my ideas one by one and chose the character I was most comfortable with. Coming up with a color scheme was difficult as well because I was worried my characters would blend in with the background. After many days and nights of trial and error, I finally came with a solid plan for my game design and I was very happy with the outcome.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision-making in your EP journey?

The skill of decision-making is very much involved in every part of this course as every design I make is based on my thoughts and my individual ideas. I Have to decide what color scheme, what background and what characters I want to design, and if that brings out the ideas I have in mind clearly. Making these decisions was not easy as sometimes the decision I make in planning this game could make the artwork I have in hand to be ruined but I still had to make them.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

I made a weekly to-do list to keep myself on track. I made sure to keep important deadlines in my mind to avoid missing turning in any assignment. My week goes by in a way that, I go through the course materials every day for a few hours and I slowly try to practice the skills they had thought us in the lectures for the first half of the week. Then for the second half, I come up with the ideas and start working on my designs.

8. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

For next week, I'll be learning how to animate my characters in photoshop and will slowly bring my pixel game to life.

Your progress so far

In the third week, I managed to create my first Lens which is Face Lens Basic Templates, and publish it on Lens Studio. As mentioned in the second module(week), the Face Lens adds Augmented Reality (AR) elements to the user's face via the phone's front camera. This type of lens changes the look of the user's face, thus the name Face Lens. Hence in this week, I could take this opportunity to create and practice several lenses such as Distort Template, Sunglasses Template, and Segmentation Template. I also managed to experience creating a Cutout Template that creating a World Lens by importing just a 2D image or animation. A cutout includes movement, scale, rotation, shadow, and the ability to always look at the camera. Multiple Cutouts can be added to the Lens allowing us to create a 3D scene with movable 2D objects.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

Based on my doing tutorial, I am still overwhelmed by the vast information and I am going to use some time to digest the things that are just being taught. After applying the guide by the instructor, I felt that it is very tiring to complete a lens as one has to pay a lot of attention to every detail ad be a focus.

4. Your feelings & thoughts

I am grateful that I picked this as my elective posting because I truly enjoy it and can increase my creativeness and talent.

5. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision-making in your EP journey?

There at times where I learned to make crucial decisions to make my project more powerful. First, it was picking the main theme of my face lens. Other than that, I had to choose different types of animation and templates to make my lens more colorful and interesting.

6. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

I have no problems regarding time management, I could say since this project is done during my semester break. I learned how to prioritize and allocate my time for my project and other important things.

7. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

To complete this online course, I had to submit my creature of the lens. It will be viewed and evaluate by the course organizer and the rest of my coursemates. So, I had to do several experiments on my tutorials to ensure my end product is very attractive and successful.

I have learnt more techniques day by day. From lecture 5, I learnt that we can create a project that behaves differently depending on what choices the user makes by creating “if” block or “if/else” block. While for lecture 6, I learnt that we are able to repeat the block multiple times by using “forever” block instead of keep clicking. On them multiple times.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

I was delighted when I unlocked all these new techniques as I was able to create more interesting projects then. I’ve managed to keep on track. In the 3rd week of this posting, I have successfully ventured even deeper on another two intellectual property rights, which are ‘copyrights’ & ‘trade secrets’. Theoretically, copyright protects the original work of authorship. Such works are literature, drawings, paintings, songs, musics, computer software, film, photos and a lot more, whereas trade secret is any valuable information that is not publicly known or well-guarded secret, for example ingredients used in their food products, business methods, customer and so on. I managed to get so much information from various websites available too, which explain in detail about these two intellectual property rights. My supervisor also has enlightened me well. Since I have covered all of the four intellectual property rights, I was asked to differentiate those rights in details with example in my presentation.

Your feelings and thoughts

I am incredibly honoured and delighted for being able to learn so much from my supervisor and his staffs in his company. For the past week (the third week) I have been binging myself into doing some practice on the spreadsheet. This week I will be attaching one of the Excel sheets that I have done to this post. I have also managed to look up the videos on my course so that I can learn new things from it. Do you know that Excel has this function that made our lives super easy? By just dragging from one box to another, you can copy-paste the data from the neighboring cell? Plus by just dragging the formula can also be pasted from the neighboring cell. Super easy and time-saving right?

Feelings and thoughts
I was super thrilled to know that my life can be so much easier with the dragging function. I do not have to re-enter the formulas which made my life so easy because re-entering the formula can be quite a hassle because there are too many formulas, I am gasping for air to remember it. I was also very grateful that I managed to learn this and practice it. Super happy because I can now do my spreadsheets at a better speed compared to previously.

How did I learn and apply the skill of decision-making in my EP journey?
There are times where I need to make the decision on how the Spreadsheet would end up like. Obviously, we want a clear-cut and neat spreadsheet, that is concise and precise. That is where I use my decision-making skills. To ensure that the outcome will be easy and nice to look at.

How did I manage my time throughout this EP journey?
I planned my time by having the early mornings till noon to do, learn and finish up my EP project since being at home means I need to do some house chores as well. But overall, I don't think it's so much of a burden since I am always free in the mornings. So I do take my time and learn as much during the day.

My plan for next week
Finish up my unfinished course so I can finally post up the certification on this Excel course I am currently taking.

I have also started to draft some ideas for my output and have been browsing Pinterest for inspiration.

FEELINGS & THOUGHTS
I am still feeling a little overwhelmed after trying to cram HTML and CSS in three weeks. However, I am thankful that this posting was introduced during my semester break because it allows me to be productive. I am looking forward to building a website from the scratch next week.

HOW DID I LEARN & APPLY THE DECISION MAKING SKILL IN THE EP JOURNEY?
I understand that it is impossible to learn everything about HTML and CSS in a month, but my goal was to have a basic understanding and insights of the must-know information about HTML and CSS. In order to do so, I've decided to use w3schools instead of codecademy as done in weeks 1 and 2. And, given my limited knowledge, I must plan well for my website as my project output that able to reflect well my ability and effort throughout the journey without having the website looking too boring.

HOW DID I MANAGE THE TIME THROUGHOUT THE EP JOURNEY?
I have utilized the Kanban method to keep track of my progress and manage my time effectively. Each week, I've set specific goals for myself. For example, in the first week, I will primarily concentrate on HTML, and by the second week, I should have completed the fundamentals of HTML and will begin working on CSS.

PLANS FOR WEEK 4
I plan to focus on preparing a website this final week and do some review on the lessons on HTML and CSS.

Name: Muhd Harith Syakir Bin Mohd Zain
Matrix Number: GA04006
Week: 3
Date: 26/06/2021-02/07/2021

Your progress so far
So, we did a recap for week 1 & 2 materials again to master the pronunciation of the batchim wholly in combination with either the consonant or the vowel alphabets. Besides, my teacher also took us through the grammar rules again to deal with the nouns and adjectives. As for this week, my friends and I were learning how to construct a proper sentence in Korean language that involves dates, days & months.

Feelings and thoughts
Weeks by weeks, the level is getting harder & harder. Nevertheless, if one keeps skimming the handouts given, the learning journey might be eased and eventually drive the learners further to keep thriving and learning it until be proficient enough to write and speak fluently.

How did I learn and apply the skill of decision-making in my EP journey?
I reckoned that decision-making truly is important to be applied here. For my EP journey, I need to hone my skills up in choosing the words, nouns & pronunciation in writing Korean sentences, as to make it correct as what it always be. I asked guidance from my teacher & friends time to time if ever have troubles.

How did I manage my time throughout this EP journey?
I have balanced out my timetable by dividing it into 2 parts : daytime & nighttime. My class is held on Saturday's night every week. So, I will have a look on the notes given a day before the D-day or the recordings after the meeting ended if I could not make or if something came up. Students are needed to complete homework, tasks and quizzes assigned by our teacher every single week.

Your plan for next week
I hoped I have mastered the very basic rules of grammar that had been taught well enough & memorized a few nouns that are familiar in daily Korean conversation ( in last week's materials ) by revising.

WEEK 3 - SOCMED? The next era of marketing

1. Name, matric number, date

Phan Yong Hong A172063 (14/7/2021-20/7/2021)

2. My progress so far

For this week, I have learnt about how important it is to build one-to-one relationships with our customer on social media platform. It does bring us a lot of benefit : increase awareness of our brand using word-of-mouth, increase customer’s loyalty to our brand and most significantly, to amplify our brand. I’ve also gained some tips on how to engage with our customers to get their attention and trust online. I learnt that most customers want a authentic voice to speak to them, not to talk to robot when they engage in our brand’s/product’s conversation. I also learnt about social customer service, or most referred as social care, what they do and how they’re helpful in facing customers. Besides, I did also learnt about what is service-level agreement (SLA), which I never heard of it even after using various of social media platform for years. Last but not least, I’ve learn about different social media and how company actually used them to advertise their brands and what metrics do they used on each of the platform to measure their performances.

3. My feelings and thoughts

I felt quite shocked about this week as I’ve realised that I know so less about the real system behind of all these social media marketing and it’s actually so relatable in our daily life. For example, the shopping application Shopee and its reviews (which is so common during this pandemic), is actually one of the tactics they used in marketing to amplify and gain one-to-one relationships on social media. If there’s any positive reviews on the product/brand, those reviews automatically become word-of-mouth and actually doing a huge favour for them by indirectly creating brand awareness to the society. And the best part is, the shopee coins is one way for them to reward those customers that actively engage in their advertisement! So interesting right?

4. How did I learn and apply the skill of decision making in my EP journey?

By the knowledge I’ve gain this week, I can successfully analyse each company/brands and their tactics to engage in social media marketing and social selling.

5. How did I manage my time throughout this EP journey?

I had a schedule for the learning material I got and manage them accordindly and keep them in a file to ease my revision. I mostly did my learning in the day and do a brief revision on what I’ve highlighted during the day at night.

8. My plan for next week (Week 4)

Week 4 is the last week for this course and there’s an exam waiting for me. I will finish the learning material as early as possible so I will have more time to revise the whole course again before the exam in order to get the certificate.

Week 3 of Automating Life with Python - debugging

Abdul Hakim bin Mohd Nor
A168290
WEEK 3 (13 August 2021 – 19 August 2021)

1. Your progress so far

This week, I learn what causes bugs in a program and how to debug or fix the problems faster. Since making the perfect code is often time challenging, so learning on ways to handle errors are crucial. For example, when one part of the program encounter errors, I can make it so that it stops running or I can raise an exception so the program can recover from it and thus keep running as intended. Also related to this, I also learned about logging which is a great way to keep track to how the program runs.

2. Your feelings and thoughts

As expected, the early part of the lessons can still be confusing but I have gotten used to python enough to make sense of some of the things. My thoughts for this week, I’m feeling that my programming knowledge has come a long way since I not only learn to program but also to fix errors, which gives me a sense of accomplishment. I’m nowhere to being skillful enough to code on command but I’m happy with my progress so far.

3. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

One main thing that test my decision-making skill is how to delegate my time for each lesson. Sometimes, a lesson is too challenging for me hence I can get stuc on one part

4. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

In the course I’m taking, there are multiple sections to cover which I have divided into roughly 2 or 3 sections per week. But in terms of when I learn, its usually not a set time and I tried to learn whenever I’m free. One issue I had with time is that I might get stuck on one part of lesson for too long because I feel the material is sometimes too hard to understand. I had this problem since the first 2 weeks which I knew I need to fix somehow. So to fix this, I simply introduced other complementary materials so I can understand better usually through tutorial videos.

5. Your plan for next week

I will finish off the remaining lessons in this course and practice one of each automation task at least once.
