The character trait that best describes Mama is sagacious. A quote that best compliments this character trait is on page 129“I seen…him…night after night…come in …and look at that rug…and then look at me…the red showing in his eyes…the veins moving in his head…I seen him grow thin and old before he was forty… working and working and working like somebody’s old horse…killing himself…and you—you give it all away in a day--.” In this scene Mama is telling Walter how hard his dad worked for his money and throwing it away so quick is hurtful. She can tell when something is good or bad decision and she makes sure it's known.

Another character trait that best describes Mama is ..........“Son—I come from five generations of people who was slaves and sharecroppers—but ain’t nobody in my family never let nobody pay ‘em no money that was a way of telling us we wasn’t fit to walk the earth. We ain’t never been that poor. We ain’t never been that--dead inside.”

Mama is the character that I chose. In my opinion she is a very wise and strong woman. She's like glue to her family and holds them together. I sympathize with Mama because the decisions she made was highly needed to benefit her family. She's genuinely a good person and Irespect her.

This painting relates to Mama because she is a family person. She makes family the number 1 priority and everyone else really does not. Money is there main thing they keep worrying about. This painting shows how Mama looks out for her family and cares about them so much. I feel like this shows Mama really watching over Walter more than anyone I feel like they had the best connection in the story.

This poem relates to Mama because she loves her kids and puts them before anyone. Mama lets Walter know that family is more important than money because at the end of the day, that money could be gone but your family still going to be there for you (Line 2). Mama was there for beneatha about school and there for Walter when he lost all the money from the check (Line 6). Mama really relates everyone of these quotes she is a loving mother and will want the best for her family.

This song relates to Mama because if it was not for Mama caring about her family enough to help them through situations they would be fighting and arguing all the time. Mama always is looking for the best in her kids she wants them to become unified as a family and stop with all the problems (Line 1). Mama believes in her children even though she knows a lot of the things they do is not the best she still believes they will get better more and more they realize the better in life (Lines 12&13). This song is good for Mama because she makes a big impact on her kids even if she realizes it or not.

A theme for A Raisin in the Sun is "Being in financial situations can cause problems in a family." “Walter—What you ain’t never understood is that I ain’t got nothing, don’t own nothing, ain’t never really wanted nothing that wasn’t for you. There ain’t nothing as precious to me…There ain’t nothing worth holding on to, money, dreams, nothing else—if it means—if it means it’s going to destroy my boy.” P. 106
This quote relates to the theme because money had been so much of an issue that Walter tells Mama he would go as far as it destroying his son to get money and achieve his dreams. Walter is just telling Mama how he does not really have anything for himself and he would do anything to become more of a man. By Walter saying this Mama can see how much money mean to Walter he really can not function correctly because of it. This quote shows how bad money has been for Walter and his family.
