So I guess for this week it made me reflect on how as a student I've been evaluated on different subjects. What makes this a little difficult is that in terms of formal school I've always come from a Western perspective. However, it does give me a better idea of what I feel is important.

In terms of the article about empowerment in assessment, I was reminded of something in my internship. There was a survey about what they liked in class and a few students mentioned that they liked to be debriefed. Not just the taking the test, but the after effect of sitting with the teacher and they could talk over their assessment before any grade was final.I feel that in this instance that there was an empowerment through evaluation. I think students were able to better digest the information and have the opportunity to refute or clarify their responses. I guess that's the point that out all the reading this week made me connect to.

In terms of participation from a scale of 1-10 I think I'm at an 8. I know last week I didn't post as much as I should have. I have a better idea on what is expected though now after reading comments though. So I figured out the time schedule on assignments I have a good idea on what's going on now.

I guess for this learning log I've never extensively used padlet before. I'm still kind of trying to test it out and I don't feel necessarily very proficient in it. I'm still trying to see as many features as possible. I'm kind of at a loss when it comes to technology sometimes.

I'm not exactly sure what I expect to learn from this class at this point. I am open to new things but it is a bit tedious to learn new systems sometimes. So I guess you could say that I'm just trying to get through and see what happens.

So I guess when I think about this week's reading was Blunt's piece in particular. I was thinking about how hard it is to ask students to give an evaluation if we don't share the same language. As I've discussed in other posts, I've had the experience of seeing this first hand. What was really hard to see was the genuine confusion and wanting to help but have a limited ability at times. I felt like this was a really frustrating experience.

The more I thought about it though, the more thought that we could change how things are evaluated. Like even just adjusting a Likert scale and using fake money instead of just using numbers or words. I feel like that actually might work. So we can think outside of the box a bit and adjust methods according to our audience. So giving it more though and maybe using unconventional manners has helped.

In terms of the rubric I think I would give myself a 12 out of 15. I was on time and have responded appropriately but I know I could do better about the timing of my posts. I think that's one area I can improve on.

I guess this week has been super busy and honestly I have a hard time with the reading. I mean I get what most is going of the time but like I feel kind of hesitant on making an evaluation now. I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the options available. I took the intro to research in education class and I felt like the design of question was more definitive but now I feel more unsure. What I hate about this project is that it's a group project. I'm very definitive when I'm by myself and the fact that I need input from 3 other people makes me not like having to the back and forth conversation on what are the best methods to go forth.

I feel that this week I've been bogged down by studying for the comp test but I've really tried to do the posts in a timely fashion and genuine feedback. So I think maybe 14/15? I think I just have to improve on the timing and spreading out my responses.

After doing the readings, I feel like I definitely have a preference of some methods. After reading about archives, observations, and questionnaires, I think I feel most comfortable with questionnaires. Reading about archives and documents, I thought that was a really useful way of collecting data but I also worried about completeness of documents or even interpretation/bias. Reading about observations and how they had to be done without bias (removed from the situation), I feel like I'm a bit too involved sometimes so I feel like it wouldn't be a valuable option for me. So I guess thinking about it, I guess that the way research is conducted has as much to do with the researcher as it does with the question.

I think that this week I did 15/15? There was no discussion and this week was mostly working on our projects which I think has turned out well.

This week was a bit difficult to get through. During the reading I felt that quantitative studies were much easier compared to qualitative. As someone that's making a evaluation, I have an aversion towards math and statistics. It's not my natural strongpoints so it makes me much more reluctant to design things like that. However, I understand the concept and the formatting of quantitative much better. It kind of makes me more nervous in some ways because I feel like they're both very difficult to create. So it's kind of unnerved me, so I'm glad that this is a group project in that way so I can get a few extra people to ask.

I tried to post earlier this week and be more active during the discussion. I think I did 15/15 this week.

I suppose for this reading what I was most surprised to learn about was the extra incurred costs. I usually have linear thinking in terms of getting from one point to another. It's hard for me to really grasp certain considerations like costs. I liked that it brought up things like personnel costs. I didn't really think about it but in terms of evaluation team members that could add up to quite a bit very quickly. I feel like this is an aspect on evaluations that I'll have to keep in mind later.

I responded late for the initial post but I was able to post my responses on time. So maybe a 9 or 10 out of 15 this week? I tried to give genuine responses to my classmates.

I guess for this learning log I was a bit confused about our assignment. I feel like communication plan is something we've already done in a lot of ways. So I guess I just find the assignment a little tedious. I think it is important but I also feel like maybe it should be been earlier in our assignments. I will say that I think it's nice in a way though because our team has a bit of a hard time with communicating with each other though.

I feel like I've properly responded to all of the discussions and whatnot so I think 15/15 is appropriate.

So this week was kind of interesting. I was thinking about it when it came to the second article about the, "Learning Orientation of Employees". When it was talking, all I was thinking about was google. How they orient their business for a growth mindset and how they build in time for their employees to have their own projects. I was kind of admiring that and how they innovate, I thought it was really smart of them to get people to have this growth mindset.

I wasn't doing that great this week when it came to posting at all or responses and I know it was last minute. I'm sorry but I'm actually moving this week and it was much harder to multitask than usual that's for sure. I know I was late and I didn't give time for feedback. So maybe 8/15?
