I chose this song because the song show a toxic relationship, yet in the end, the girl still believes it is them against the world. The lryics also say that the man is out of his mind, and so was Troy. This idea is talked about thoughtout the whole play. Troy gets mad because he was ahead of the time and could not live out his baseball dreams, Rose couldn't live out her dreams because she is a African American woman in the 50s, and Cory football dreams were crushed after his father practically made him quit the team. This can be shown on page 97, when Troy says. "Do you understand, after eighteen years I wanted to steal second." A motto that relates to Rose would definitely be, “When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.” I think this quote relates to her because she always chooses to stay positive and do what right.
