-Advantage- A vertical merger can allow a firm to operate more efficiently. A vertically combined firm can control all phases of production, rather than rely on the goods or services of outside suppliers.
-Disadvantage- Antitrust regulators become concerned when firms in the same industry merge vertically, especially if supplying firms suffer.
